No double up game ladder

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

In recent days Collingwood, Hawthorn and Port Adelaide supporters in particular have been bitching about some of the double up games some teams *Cough* Adelaide *Cough* are getting. So to be fair and give a fair indicant of how teams are going, all double up games have been eliminated from the ladder.

note - I've changed it from a points system to a win% system as it's fairer on all teams at the moment due to an uneven amount of games (Why should Hawthorn with 15 games be above Collingwood with 13 games? Same case as why should Freo be above North?) - Once all teams play 17 games it's completely irrelevant as to which system to use, but right now win% is best.

Anyway
1. Collingwood - 84.62% - 125.14%
2. Sydney - 78.57% - 140.57%
3. Adelaide - 76.92% - 120.27%
4. Hawthorn - 73.33% - 157%
5. West Coast - 71.43% - 130.36%
6. Essendon - 71.43% - 127.63%
7. Geelong - 64.29% - 112.92%
8. North Melbourne - 53.85% - 108.58%
9. Fremantle - 53.33% - 97.60%
10. St Kilda - 50% - 114.16%
11. Richmond - 42.86% - 105.62%
12. Carlton - 42.86% - 102.07%
13. Brisbane - 35.71% - 87.46%
14. Western Bulldogs - 33.33% - 74.68%
15. Port Adelaide - 30.77% - 84.94%
16. Melbourne - 15.38% - 64.40%
17. Gold Coast - 7.69% - 58.15%
18. Greater Western Sydney - 7.69% - 45.83%

Now can trolls stop using the fixture as an excuse as to why Adelaide is in the top 4?
Without the double up games we're already up there....

2 games to play - Hawthorn, Fremantle, Western Bulldogs
3 games to play - Sydney, West Coast, Essendon, Geelong, St Kilda, Richmond, Carlton, Brisbane
4 games to play - Adelaide, North Melbourne, Port Adelaide, Melbourne, Greater Western Sydney, Collingwood, Gold Coast

The point is top 4 teams could get home finals against each other based on the double up and the percentage it brings.
Thats not right

The point is that if Adelaide did not get to play GWS and GCS twice then, because they finished 14th last year, instead they would have had to play perhaps Melbourne & Bulldogs twice instead. It would have made no difference.

It is fair, BTW. The draw is set according to how a team finishes the previous year, and Adelaide's draw this year has been set according to those rules. It is the same rule for every team (unless like Port they request something different), so it is perfectly fair.

I think Adelaide fans should stop taking things to heart and realise footy fans try and wind people up for a laugh.

And OK Crows has taken the bait.

Most people I know in Adelaide just don't know how to take footy banter.

Massive small man sydrome in Adelaide, especially Crows supporters.

Everything seems to be a conspiracy against Adelaide. Maybe you should stop listening to Cronesy and Rowey and realise nobody in Melbourne really gives a shit about them.

We all hate Carlton, Essendon and Hawthorn and other Melbourne teams. Adelaide aren't on the radar apart from winding up people like you who will take the bait.

I'm going to call you on this. The post from poster Pessimistic above gives the lie to your claim.

If your claim was true, then people wouldn't keep trying to claim Adelaide were benefiting from an unfair draw when it has been made abundantly clear that they aren't. Doing so just makes posters look stupid and whiny.

I ignored that post.
Just showed how immature he is, giving teams shit that are irrelevent to them just for the lols? What a waste of a life.

After the next round all teams will have played 17 games, which theoretically should be each team once

How about just listing the ladder as it is, but note the teams each team has played twice, and which teams not played yet.
That should give a truer picture

i might make another one of them then :)

I wouldn't really worry about it, most people are unable to take an objective viewpoint when it comes to their footy team. There are a lot of posters that still don't rate Adelaide and Sydney. Then there's the ones who get all up in arms when people actually point to their injuries for losses because they only know their own team. People on here complain about travelling, where the games are played, what time of the day they play, the umpires, etc, etc.

Not saying these aren't concerns, but at the end of the season if you win the premiership it's because your team was great, sometimes the better team loses, shit happens, that's football.

Anyone with half a brain can see that Adelaide are a great side at the moment no matter what teams they play twice, and we will find out come finals who are the real deal.

The only problem with this is that it doesn't take into account how many teams of the other 17 each team has played. Still, thanks for the effort

I've actually devised 2 other ladders. 1 has popped up on the Adelaide board and someone did put it on the main board elsewhere. Then there's another that's only being used for personal use only.

Both will be published at the conclusion of the 23rd round as part of Dirty Bird's "Mythbusters" :p (The 2nd one is in the planning stages too. Will get more support, as the prime example is going to be Collingwood and proving their long standing excuse a fallacy :p)

Do you want a f*cking tissue?

Where are you getting your '6 wins for nothing' from?

Richmond took Gold Coast 'easier so to speak' and lost their game. Get your head out of your arse and I sure as hope you aren't going to cry 'injuries' when we smash you this weekend

we didnt take it 'easy'. we were just shit!!!

To be honest, i have no issue with adelaide or whoever getting the draw that they got, that's what happens some years under the current system. I don't think there's any conspiracy although you can tell the AFL wanted the top teams from last year to stay away from GC and GWS. What I do take issue is that at this stage of the year it's the first time we've played Kangaroos, this shouldn't happen. You should have played every team once and by round 17 we'll have a fairly strong idea of where everyone stands against every other team.

The other problem I have is that the AFL seem to be not even attempting to make strides towards it being an even fixture, we should be trying to level out the amount of games each team plays against eachother over the course of years, we should be making sure every team gets a prime time chance. The AFL has an obsession with maximising revenue but really we should be attempting to bring everybody up to the same strong level of support so we don't have to "fix" the fixture every year. Even if this means more interstate games for us, or less at the G, I don't mind, just as long as we can make towards everyone getting a fair go and by the end of the year we have a ladder which accurately reflects how good each team is.
