The structures worked fine in the first half, against a team that can play that style.

Again, if it was purely an issue with speed, wouldn't that mean that we'd struggle from the first bounce? The saying is "the tall guys don't get any shorter", not "the fast guys don't get any slower"... to me, it all points to fitness and fatigue. Possibly mental fatigue, but definitely physical fatigue is at play.

It is also exacerbated when the other team starts getting their hands on the ball first regularly, and you're doing all the chasing. So while it would be good to add a Freeman type from this year's draft, we would also benefit from a Taylor Adams type extractor. Losing Conca early killed us. Lose a man early, who also happens to be a good extractor, and fairly zippy getting around the ground.

Yeah Conca is a double header. Can play in and out and was a costly loss.

If you can't win the ball at stoppages you can't get it to outside players and the oppositions outside players dominate .
Our lack of depth in players who can win inside ball and distribute to outside runners continues to be of concern. Load up in inside mids with good ball use , more than comfortable that lids , dusty , Cotchin , s Edwards can comfortably play as small/ medium forwards or outside run and spread players .

What you are seeing is a fresh player coming on late in the game against fatigued opposition and still ranking in the bottom third of Richmonds disposal efficiency, with almost 2 clangers a game (in maybe a third game time). I'm sorry but it might be nice to have a fresh fast runner as sub but to me he doesn't rate.

Each to their own I guess groundhogday - personally, if we are playing White, it's because he can run and move the ball forward effectively while filling in the area around the midfield and forward line (something we definitely lacked last year were decent options across HF).

I'm not saying White is a superstar but he wouldn't be on big money and provides a lot of bang for your buck. Bringing his passion for the team into the equation as well and he's a keeper for mine. If he were playing deep in defence, then his clangers may be a bit of a concern but as we've seen DE is a pretty overrated stat anyway - IIRC, Cotchin has a relatively low DE as well

Exactly why I reckon S.Edwards would be the perfect sub.
