why do we have to trade??? I prefer we didn't. Just because some of these names sound ok ,do we really need them. I am very protective of our players ,especially when we want to give them away too early before they have reached their potentiaL. Haven't we learned by our previous mistakes. Initially we are talking about a lack of big bodied midfielders, then we seem to want to bend over backwards to try and get a troublesome player like Tarrant. Doesn't make sense, what will that do to the development of Murphy, Medhurst and then down the track to Campbell etc. We finished third( GREAT EFFORT ), I say keep what we got ( for depth) and go with our draft picks. We should have learned by now from our enemy up the road, they hardly ever trade away their picks or trade for players. Stick to our picks and look out from our home grown products for rookie selections.

Could not agree more.

As a mate of mine often says misreading where your list is at and starting to top up is the deadliest sin of all

Polly I understand - if he wants to go you push for compensation.

Never trade a first round pick unless it is a blockbuster ...Tarrant does not fit the definition.

Lets play guys like Murphy out of the square - see how he goes with regular game time, inshallah get the drill (Robbie) and Rash (Thornton) back too.

Look at blokes like Crowley & Grover .....reward form it is amazing. Keep Medders - Farmer is not going around for another 5 years - Medders is.

Ride the improvement of Sandi, Mundy, Johnson and Peake etc....keep the list together.

Tarrant is a cheap fix, as far as I am concerened if he does not want to come here as a first option - stay East.

:thumbsu: I'm with you Red Gum .....Tuck for Polly (if he wants to go) and start assessing the young talent for our draft picks.

Especially when out of our two main ball winners

1) Bell is a few years away from retirement
2) Hase has been very injury prone these past couple of years

Where are we gonna get a midfielder to back up those two for 2009? We'll be up the creek without a paddle. Not to mention the lack of midfield depth at the moment.

It's ludicrous.

We don't need a forward, especially one like Tarrant. We shouldn't rely on Pav in the midfield. He could get injured AND he's a gun CHF.

I feel like I'm going crazy here.

I am not sure if we are in a position to keep experimenting with players. If top two is the target in 2007 the team must be settled and everyone have a place. Testing the kids to see if they can run through the midfield should have been done in 2004/2005, not now. We should know where we are going at this point.

Because Polak wants to leave and Medhurst isn't in our best 22. But you're right that we don't need to target anyone, I'd be happy with draft picks for both of them.

We don't have to trade. But if we didn't I would be very disappointed to see Polak going into the PSD for nothing, which is what he is reported to be planning to do if a suitable trade is not arranged.

Polak has been given many opportunities at this club, and has not been able to establish himself. The club says they want to keep him. He says he wants to go. The couragous thing to do would be to get yourself firing and force your way into the starting lineup, and with the club saying they need another KPP if he goes, there is obviously a place for him. But he is choosing the easy route of another club where there is less competition for spots in the team.

Sadly it appears that way with Medders as well. It is disappointing , but probably teething pains from having them get games because we had little depth.

It is probably better in the long term if they do both go as We need players who make things happen rather than having a chip on their shoulder when they ask "what happened".
