It is half time and I guess we can get back into this game but.....
We are playing crap footy.
Our midfield is poor.
Our forward line is poorer. Cant figure out what Pav is trying to do .We need him to kick goals'
Our backline is ok but it should be because our whole team spends most of the game down there.

Really really disappointed with our effort and skills. Lose against gold coast and we desreve all the disrespect we usually get,

i reckon you could have slotted the word "pathetic" in there somewhere.

Well we won but if you are happy with that performance then we will never experience success

I think you'll find absolutely no one on here or at the club would be happy with that. No disrespect to GC, they were the better side today, but a team with our talent and experience (relative to them) should be winning by 5-6 goals easily.

Still, 4 points.

Might go into the record books as 4 points but its a loss in my eyes.

Not good enough.

Attack on the ball was pathetic, structures pathetic, ball use pathetic and the amount of fumbling yep u guessed it PATHETIC.

So much for all those saying to rest players and this will be a good % booster game.

Until we get this lazy, piss poor attitude out of our culture, we are going nowhere.

Need to be flogging bottom teams, not just showing up and just doing enough to win.

And some supporters wanted to rest players for these games, the reality is we aren't going to win games by big margins, we just dont have the forwards to be able to smash teams.

I Hope i'm alive to see the day that happens.

Neither upset or dismayed.

They recently pushed Essendon most of the way, who in turn almost beat the Magpies.

As time passes, expect the Suns to get harder to beat, especially at Metricon

Also shows that if you're off your game, even just a little, then you'll be punished.

I agree with this. They have some seriously talented kids and they are getting closer to a win each week.

Good teams find a way to win when they are down on form and we managed to do that.

Until we get some decent systems into the forward line we are going to struggle to kick big scores and belt teams.

But I will take an ugly win and if you keep winning you will earn respect.

We seem to be unwilling/incapable of getting the comprehensive wins against teams we should be beating easily. Unconvincing wins like those against Brisbane and GC just further confirms the perception that "you're always a chance against Freo".

We seem to be playing ugly football at the moment. So far the endeavour has been ok but today was complete shyte. And I am struggling with the sideways and backwards kicking. Perhaps we are still getting used to Lyon's game plan and style but i am becoming concerned we are a becoming as ugly as St Kilda were under Lyon. Not condemning the game plan yet but for chrissakes, some one needs to point out what end of the ground our goals are. The amount of backwards movement with the ball and yet nobody moving to make space up the ground, i.e. gut running to break things open today really bothers me. It was very evident lt week against Carlton and again today. We might argue it is lack of suitable forward structures but where is the run to make space!

Freo got smashed at the stoppages, the effort just wasn't there from our midfield or when there was a ball up. Plain and simple.

Poor effort but we got the win something that in the past would have resulted in a loss to a team we should beat.

If we get over Melbourne and Richmond this year then I know we've turned the corner.

GC were zoning really well. It was like they were trying to beat Lyon at his own game. Playing tempo football, holding on to it and zoning back in numbers when we had it. I much prefer todays effort than the 3rd quarter against Carlton when we might has well have been trying to kick it to Gibbs so he could cut another swathe through our zone.
GC were excellent, very hard at the contest. Anyone who thinks we didn't give an effort today, have a look at the number of players cramping up in the last quarter. that was a slog today. GC led Essendon at 3/4 time and had the best of the Kangaroos for a while. Those 2 teams are on our level so we are about par. We just can't score quickly like those 2 teams can and put sides away.

No respect gained today. Winning like that we will NEVER get respect nor should we.
Lazy lazy effort. Stems right from the top.

Out of all of the plethora of absolute, ignorant SHIT that has been drooled all over this site tonight, this post stands out as a beacon of common sense and football knowledge.

Thanks E Shed.:thumbsu:

Some of you polesmokers really have no idea.

this sums up how i saw the game today. Obviously freo played way below ability and the suns were very good today (annoyingly good!) so by third quarter it was pretty deflating knowing that it was going to be about just getting a win, not the expected win and extra %. Would be nice to see us actually put one of these lower teams away and make a statement at some stage this season "/ ...at least the losses have been small.

Actually want to quickly forget about this and move on, gold coast are not a team that freo needs to concern itself with again until next season.

Another downhill skiing supporter with no ticker, in the past we could easily have lost that game by 30 pts.

I just love how when the opposition play out of their skins, we are lazy by default.
Reality is we need a forward that can kick goals, simple.

Anyway back to Xanadu, where we win by 10 goals every week, and smack the bottom 4 by 150 pts.

I have been a supporter from day one and attended all bar 4 local Dockers games from the day they started. I vent my frustration at half hearted efforts by our guys when seemingly we are slowly starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
We simply turned up and expected it to fall our way, I doubt whether we would have had that mindset if the opposition was a top 4 side.
Yes Gold Coast played out of their skins but you can't tell me you would be happy with the effort and attack on the ball in that game compared to our efforts against St Kilda or Geelong.
In terms of intensity, a good comparison was to watch the Sydney Adelaide game last night and you see what I'm trying to say.
