So it’s something that I’ve always felt very strongly about, and something that’s always annoyed me, but neighbours making noise and having that noise reverberate into your house at any hour of the day really frustrates me.

I know that there are restrictions on noise after a certain time, but it really bothers me that excessive noise from another persons property is allowed to impede upon that of the neighbours properties to the point where it becomes obvious. If you are living in a property next to someone you should be able to not be bothered at all by noise generated from other people.

Now I am not talking about lawn mowers, building works, or construction/maintenance type work, but noise that does not need to occur per say (drums, noisy deep bass, music in general that you can hear word for word). That really frustrates me.

I think there needs to be a basic level of respect for privacy throughout the entire day whereby sound emitting from your property doesn’t bother or transfer to another persons property.

Cheers,

If its excessive, you can report it to the council. You're better off speaking to them first though or ask other neighbours for their opinion.

If it impedes your sleeping at night then you have cAuse for complaint, otherwise just suck it up. This is what it's like to live in civilisation. Buy a rural farmhouse if you hate it.
Should I have to live with it though? I mean it’s a bit of a disturbance that I shouldn’t have to endure.

Either you live in a unit, apartment, or one of those new estates where the houses touch other. I live next door to an old bloke who is retired and in his shed most days, and I do not hear his tools much at all.

No I live in a house, not in a new estate. A period 1920’s property in the inner east.

What topics are argued?

Find it hard to hear detail, I think it's mainly about their kids, one in particular seems a real little shit. Did hear a good one about the amount of work each of them do, he "works like a dog" and she's "with the bloody kids all day", he did some work in the shed that night that's for sure!
