That was such a good hit by Coleman, perfect technique

And he got the level of viciousness just right too - managed to hurt him without making it look like he was lining him up to hurt him and risk attracting the VFL media spotlight and a kneejerk new rule of the week from the MRP.

With all of this bulldust about combating the NRL in the northern states with opening round, I saw that there is only 1 game played in Sydney for the entire month of April and 17 NRL games.

What a contradiction.
League is a TV game. You could put all their teams in an 8 month camp on Hamilton Island and play all their games there in an empty stadium and it would literally cost League maybe 2% of their audience.

Cool you think ... just use the same strategy and have games in WA, SA, Vic broadcast on TV into the northern states. Fight TV sport with TV sport, right?

Except no-one, literally no-one, in the northern states gives a shit about a TV game of AFL at Optus involving us v. Port or St Kilda, etc. This I can promise you.

If you want to win the TV war in NSW and Qld, you need TV content that is relevant to that TV audience. And the only shot at relevance the AFL has is making content focussed on the northern clubs.

Nothing else counts if the AFL is to win as the national game and get the big broadcast bucks that enables big player salaries that enables young talent to pick the AFL as their profession of choice which improves TV content which allows the AFL to get the big broadcast bucks etc etc

HOW DARE HE …. say exactly what every Freo fan has been saying forever

THE HIDE OF THE BLOKE

I'm sure every AFL coach has their opinions on how every other team plays.

But few are so drunk on their own bathwater to think they're entitled to dish out their advice to the opposition post match, especially when they've just lost to said team.

Oh how it pains me to see that smug arseh*le Fly get a touch up like this.

Hopefully next week we can repeat the dose and show him that we look pretty good when we play quickly, don't we?
Just have to finish against the Pies. Their whole game plan relies on winning it defensively and sling shotting it.

I dont think there has ever been a team that can move the ball as well as Brisbane via foot. Its insane how well they are structured to move and hit the short kicks.

Theres something particularly about them at the GABBA that is mesmerising they way its all set up.

It was disgustingly good.

We dont need to play the same as them but there is no way a few of our best 22 sniff their team on foot skills alone.
Just need to compete.

Take away the uncontested kicks. Easier said than done.

We have a tie ladies and gentlemen! Apparently winning by 10 goals in front of your home crowd is not enough to get the 'first to the ball' or 'noise of affirmation' bonus when you're playing a Vic team.

2026 Vicbias whistlewatch:

Games:
16.2.2

Free kicks:
415 to 337

The 3peat Hawks team would have given them a run. Seemed like every player was a lefty that could hoof it 50 on a dime.

The way they handled us during that period was embarrassing. While we would be frantically trying to lock it in close at stoppage they would find a way to the outside & proceed to flick it around all the players who were loose because our players were still chasing tail away from the contest.

I hated playing them in that period. They were the only team who could have stopped us in 2013 and we all know how that turned out.

Do you think we should move the ball slow ?

Doubt it

So you got upset about someone having the same opinion as you just because they had a microphone under their nose

Dumb

Hopefully Carlton loses this and then their season just about implodes.

North lose to West Coast the week before. North (still a poor team) defeat the Blues Power Outage the week after.

Delicious cakes
