The North Melbourne Football Club has made a decision on it's VFL partnership by deciding to formalise relationships with both North Ballarat and Tasmania Football Clubs.

This arrangement will see the Kangaroos partner with both clubs resulting in Kangaroos listed players playing with one of the two teams.

The operational and contractual details, as well as deciding which players end up with which club, will be finalised in the ensuing weeks.

"Of the clubs under consideration, we are delighted to have arrived at the decision to partner with both North Ballarat and Tasmania Football Clubs," said Kangaroos chief executive Geoff Walsh

expect a mass exodise from both clubs

Where was this written?

Why will there be a mass exodise?

Was wriitten on another Footy Website!!! North Ballarat Players arent happy with it... Ask your bullant boys what happened when Carlton rocked up and took over....... Dont you believe this article?

There is a main leadership group of players at nth ballarat that are filthy with the allignment. I like the way walsh said that they have decided which clubs they are going to align with, as if there were a number of options. He should have said

the North Melbourne Footy Club have finally been able to suck two clubs in to allign..........

Travy d u no any players names that are ********ed off? or just speculation?

Field (captain, liston trophy winner, state rep, been there since day dot) and Grieg (vic captain, state rep, been there since day dot). These two are not happy and have a lot of pull within the "local ballarat" playing group.

Tassie is going to really struggle now and will lose a lot of support over it. This could be a real defining moment in the clubs history.
DUDE you dont live in tassie so dont comment on it. This will cause players to lose there spots which means its now interesting weather the Northen Bombers Will try and get AFL Tas support to have a second state team now.

A Tassie team with a few Tasmanian players in it, wow thats really a Tassie team. A big blow to Tassie football.

Im from tassie and this will be the end of the devils if this happens. What a shame to ruin all the hard development work we have done down here. What young aspiring kid is gunna wanna turn up to devils training now when he knows later on down the track he is going to be shunned an opportunity because of a fringe AFL player who has no interest in the club will take his spot. Shame on u Scott Wade. ******** off out of this state and stop ruining football here.

The Tassie Devils began in 2001 to give the states best players somewhere to play after the statewide league folded.
The Devils have bled the local Tasmanian clubs by taking the players they have developed from them.
Now the Devils will have a number of Kangaroo listed players, which will prevent young Tasmanian players getting exposure and experience at VFL level.
On the brightside, at least there will be a few more quality players back in the local leagues.

Interesting.
The express purpose of the Tasmanian Devils Football Club was to keep our elite players from going off interstate to comps like the SANFL, WAFL, AFLQ etc after the TFL collapsed because they perceived that players would not want to stay and play in the NTFL, SFL etc.
And to develop Tasmanian players for the express purpose of being drafted to the AFL by gaining exposure in a recognised comp (like the old TFL was) which they would not have got in the NTFL or that crappy SFL.

Be interesting to see over the next 12 months or so what kind of reception it gets from players and fans over it.
On the positive side at least local leagues and thier member clubs might have a bit better standard of players running around on thier grounds, with a lesser take, take, take attitude which the Devils do have.
If it all falls over it will at least force AFL Tasmania to recognise and fix the problems with football in this state which exist in abundance outside the Devils programme.

Interesting times ahead.

wouldnt those players want to try their hand at higher level footy in SA and WA and even with other clubs in the vfl???

Go play with yourself you silly little fool.

They have ruined football in the state over and over again. Sent the TFL broke, but thats ok as long as you are keeping over paid fools with an income like Wade and Hodgeman.

Hint: No such word as U. The word you are looking for is You.

Tasmanian Devils was set up to give the opportunity for Tasmanian players to get more notice after the Mariners got sunk.

AFL Tasmania denies any deal has been done. North has apparently jumped the gun big time.

Can I ask what your source is on the denial?

From the article on the footballtas website, it does seem like the Devils were still a way off agreeing to it.

7th October 2005: Don't Do It, Devils
By Paul Malarsky

Don't do it Devils - stay well clear of the Kangaroos.
The AFL club's announcement yesterday that it had formed an alliance with both Tasmania and North Ballarat in the VFL next year is indicative of why AFL Tasmania must steer clear of the AFL club at all costs.
The announcement smacked of arrogance, particularly when hours later AFL Tasmania general manager Scott Wade admitted no deal had yet been done.
"At this stage we have more questions than answers but we are certainly interested in forming a relationship with the Kangaroos," Wade told a media conference.
"But we need to work through all of the operational and logistical issues before we are prepared to finalise an agreement with the North Melbourne Football Club."
Someone should have told the Kangaroos that a simple phone call to AFL Tasmania's head office would have been well advised before any grand announcement.
Quite clearly any alliance will benefit only the Kangaroos.
AFL Tasmania is constantly reminding us of our proud Tasmanian heritage, how our football community proudly embraces its team, and how the Devils give opportunities to Tasmanian players all over the state to improve and compete at the highest level.
For our youngsters it's the opportunity to showcase their skills to the AFL club scouts and advance their case for selection in the AFL draft.
The two record crowds of 11,456 and 10,176 at Bellerive last month for the two VFL finals against Frankston and the Northern Bullants are a clear sign that Tasmanians want to see Tasmanians playing in the VFL.
What does it say about the Kangaroos when they announce to the football world that they have secured a partial alliance with Tasmania, when AFL Tasmania says the deal has not yet been done?
It suggests the Kangaroos will run the team and do things their way.
They will want coach Mathew Armstrong to play their senior discards where and when they tell him.
These discards will not be seen at training. They will drop in and out at the weekend as the Kangaroos see fit.
Their role in the development of the team will be questionable.
The Kangaroos players will have no sense of state pride -- they will be playing for themselves, trying to boost their case of a recall to the seniors.
And not only that, with the alliance being in fact a half-alliance with North Ballarat, which of the two VFL clubs will get which Kangaroo players?
It also means five or six fewer Tasmanians each week
will get the chance to play in the VFL.
State administrators would do well to heed last month's warnings of both the Frankston and Port Melbourne football clubs.
Port Melbourne severed its links with the Kangaroos at the end of the season after a three-year association.
Port Melbourne general manager Barry Kidd warned Tasmania of troubled days should the alliance go ahead.
"We wanted it to be a partnership, not an arrangement where one side dominated," he said.
"They want to be the master and us their servant, and we don't serve people too well. "It just became untenable."
Sadly, Devils officials are thinking otherwise.

Headline at the top.

Was talking with the Roosters 2004 B & F Spider Moloney yesterday, fair to say there are a lot of questions that need to be answered to the players before things will run smoothly. . . . I agree dunno whethere this one will work out in the best interests of the NBFC.
