Bring him in. Small ground and Cripps could use some support.
If the match committee think he's ready, but not a moment before.

We need to stop treating the VFL as a place of exile, and give them sufficient players to allow them to replicate the ones gameplan down there. The best sides of the last 15 years have had strong VFL affiliates, and strong extended squads.

From the highlights JSOS just looks a class above.. Give him a go, worth a shot in his new role. .

Out of Interest what is his tank like, does he finish high up in time trials?

IF TDK can get 3-4 games late in the year that's a massive bonus. Then another pre season and he could play 10-15 games in 2019. I rate him highly but patience is needed.

It might just be a little early to call this, the fact that Bayley Fritsch was taken at pick 31 and then players like Tom McCartin, Jack Petrucelle, James Worpel were selected after pick 30 and have already played AFL suggests its a long way from being a successful pick.

It's a long way from being a successful pick, in that we won't really know until five years from now. Games played this year is a poor metric given the different player types and development paths.

What's that saying about talls taking something?...

Bit rough to compare an TDK who is an 18 year old gangly, athletic ruckman with a 21 year old small forward (Fritsch).

KM rated our Draft a D.

Wasn’t for taking Dow, O’Brien, Schumacher or Garlett where we did.

What, were we meant to somehow use a later pick on Garlett?...

Hawthorn got an A+ because Worpel and Moore are "round one ready to go".

Essendon got a C+ where he says their "midfield list needs were not fully met".

Seems like O'Brien and TDK are the reasons CD/KM gave us a D+. Schumacher doesn't even get a mention. Dow & O'Brien look good, you can't really argue with Garlett at the last pick of the draft, TDK clearly has something (and has a couple of years up his sleeve to work on his game before being a regular selection like McKay) and I think most have seen enough from Schumacher that they're happy with his selection a few places before JG.

Fremantle also received a D+ for taking Brayshaw (#2, 9 games), Cerra (#5, 8 games), Dixon (#44), Crowden (#59, 8 games), North (#65), Meek (#69), Switkowski (#73) and Jones (#75) (then Banfield in the rookie draft). Considering most that haven't played were picked late in the draft and are more project players, I don't think they've done that badly at all. But it didn't match CD/KM's personal rankings therefore it's a fail...

Draft grades are generally worthless until 5-10 years later. We should be reading grades on the 2008 up to 13 drafts now.

All respect to KM. Draft grades are demanded by most publishers and they have to dish out a certain amount of negative grades. Does not mean anything.

His draft profiles are a lot more interesting than his club rankings.

Safe to say Schumacher's not getting picked any time soon, and also nice to see Blakey using all the defensive lapses as sprint training.

Willo didn't look in good nick before the knock...

SOS gets to all the right spots, and was notably absent in most of our glaring defensive/stoppage errors.

Shaw seems to have a problem with depth perception.

Wilson and Hill should have 'kick me' signs when they're placed at a stoppage, just so everyone at the ground is on the same page.

McCabe is growing as a player, but needs a little more lower leg strength to add some precision to his kicking (for both the kicking and the balancing leg). We should get him in to train over the pre-season.

If the first half is anything to go by, Jack and Garlett will be up for selection, with TDK a distant third.

Polson was moving fine, but not getting to the dangerous spots on the outside to earn a lot more footy.

If pre-season were starting tomorrow, If be inviting Federico, Penrith, McCabe and Fisher down to train.

More tomorrow.

Not a fan of a Jesse Palmer redemption?

Polson really needs to get a lot more damaging possessions (possessions in general) of late.

You're right, it's too early.

As I said at the start of the post, that was a review of the first half. That said, Palmer doesn't impress me as an AFL prospect.

Think Menzel.

Was only in relation to the invites.

Menzel but maybe with a bit more desperation in a football career (not sure if Troy has ventured to West Adelaide or still out playing bush football?)? They can play.

Troy had no defensive pressure, and his brother sucks at it. Palmer is even less impressive than Troy, just with a sounder body.

Tom De Koning
Stats: 10 disposals, 4 marks, 2 goals
From the coach: Tom kicked 2.1 including a couple of strong marks in the air. As a young tall, he’s developing his leading patterns as a key forward really well, and his second efforts at ground level were really impressive. We liked his game on the weekend, particularly his first half.

Jarrod Garlett
Stats: 18 disposals, 4 clearances
From the coach: Jarrod played mainly on the wing but also up forward, where he used his speed on the outside a couple of times really well and had a good combination of contested and uncontested possessions. We’ll keep giving him exposure on the wing and also as a pressure forward.

Cameron Polson
Stats: 9 disposals, 4 clearances
From the coach: Not a huge game possession-wise, where he missed some opportunities through some fall-of-ball method while he was also unlucky when he ran really hard to receive possessions, but we didn’t execute. He’s splitting his time between forward and midfield and we’re expecting a spike in his performance. He’s building the right way with some good habits.

Jack Silvagni
Stats: 22 disposals, 7 tackles, 6 inside 50s, 4 clearances
From the coach: The plan was to play as both a midfielder and forward, but like Cam Polson he ended up playing more in the middle due to injuries. He was really good around stoppages and in contested ball, while he used drive in his legs to get out of stoppages and congested situations while using the ball really well in general play.

In case you somehow missed it in the title:

THERE IS NO COVERAGE FOR THIS GAME. IT'S NOT ON TV; IT'S NOT ON THE RADIO; IT'S NOT BEING STREAMED ONLINE.

THANKS.

[clears throat] Anyway...

Amazingly, Harry's been named.

Cupboard's a bit bare in terms of the VFL contingent, but Stavrou's back, and that should hopefully indirectly bolster our midfield, maybe even free up Schumacher. I'm expecting Lynch and McCabe to be two of the other names on the bench, while the last one is a bit of a raffle.
