If only there were more like them

Eddie makes me cringe a lot but you can't but respect him even though he is a tool (I've met him a few times and he seems bonafide enough). A lot of opposition supporters bag him and I can see that, he is a big Fanboi but his success, you cannot deny.

Then there is Jimbob. If ever someone was a mini me of another, it is Jimbob. Can North fans take him seriously or are they too blinded by the grease that rolls off ARocca's hair?

Royal Blue Premiership Pledge Candidate #4

Name
Allen Aylett

History with North
Played 221 games from 1952-1964
President from 1971-76 & 2001-05

Why would they donate?
A 2-time President, Aylett once mortgaged his own house to generate funds for the club, such was his commitment to ensure the club's success. A man of considerable substance who put his money where his mouth was, unlike North's rockstar President of today.

Why they haven't donated
Aylett supported de Rauch's challenge in the 2010 board election, where JB first earned the Mugabe title for his election rigging. Following a moratorium on elections after the shareholder issue was resolved, 2010 was the turning point where JB could either admit he was out of his depth and accept help, or lie, cheat & steal to cling onto power. The rest, as they say, is history.

Conveniently leaving out the part about Aylett, in his senility, joining the Vichy clicque who actually wanted to sell the club out to the AFL and send it to the GC in 2007.

Royal Blue Premiership Pledge Candidate #3

Name
Peter de Rauch

Why would they donate?
de Rauch is one of the clubs most passionate supporters and major financial benefactors. He was instrumental in foregoing his shareholdings in the club to have it returned to its members, in order to avoid relocation of the club to the Gold Coast.
Come on Josef, are you now re-writing history to say that PdR transferred his shares to the club in 2008, in order to fend off the relocation threat in 2007? :p

So did Brayshaw. At least Aylett put some of his own money into the club.

That's exactly what he did.

I was proud to hand my shares back to the club as part of my opposition to moving our club to the Gold Coast.

Royal Blue Premiership Pledge Candidate #5

Name
Wayne Carey

History with North
Played 244 games from 1989-2001
Captain 1993-2001

Why would they donate?
North gave the boy from Wagga his chance, club captaincy and 2 premierships. Their dominant midfield group through the 90's helped him become one of the legends of the game.

Why they haven't donated
Carey was disowned by the club after succumbing to the advances of his Vice-Captain's wife. Their favourite son was overnight turned into public enemy number one. At loose ends, Carey's post-football life has been coloured by drug & alcohol abuse, as the club he so loved turned its back on him.

Royal Blue Premiership Pledge Candidate #6

Name
Chris Scott

History with North
Nil

Why would they donate?
A successful playing career with the Brisbane Lions has ensured Chris is well off financially. He always gave his all for his club, renowned as one of the most passionate, committed and courageous players in the game. He gives his all in everything he does, so no doubt an involvement with North would lead to him committing his own money to the cause.

Why they haven't donated
North selected Brad Scott to be their new coach after Dean Laidley walked, instead of Chris. North have missed the finals in both years with Brad at the helm, whilst Chris having signed with Geelong a year later continued his no stone left unturned approach, winning a flag in his first year.

Royal Blue Premiership Pledge Candidate #7

Name
Andrew Demetriou

History with North
Played 103 games from 1981-87

Why would they donate?
Demetriou is extremely well off, receiving a $1.8m PA salary from the AFL as CEO. A former North player and known sympathiser, Demetriou is well placed to make a contribution to the club

Why they haven't donated
Being the CEO of the AFL, he can't be seen to contribute personally, but he ensures that North have all they need through equalisation payments, big money offers for relocation and assisting them in negotiations with the Tasmanian government to sell off their home games.

Whilst Demetriou is a huge asset to North, they must be wary of his penchant for growing the game, and using North to pioneer new markets. They can't survive without his support, and a full time club in Tasmania must be nearing the top of his agenda.

It's an absolute disgrace the way your people denigrate folk such as Aylett and De Rauch.

Maybe Aylett was just being realistic.

Regardless his name should be revered, instead he's spoken of like a piece of shit by a majority of Norf folk.

Because he is a prick.

If the Bulldogs were playing in a grand final and Charlie Sutton cheered for the other team what would you think of him?

Fair to say his first love was developing a national competition. Yet he has still done more for your club than anyone else in your history.

If Brayshaw gave de Rauch a fair crack at the board instead of sandbagging for his brother, Aylett would probably be on the Royal Blue Premiership Pledge list by now.

you do realise de Rauch has had a couple of cracks at being on the board previously?

Yes. He developed a reputation for being uncompromising in his beliefs. Whereas JB wanted his brother as a yes man.

SLF even wanted de Rauch on the board ahead of Mark Brayshaw.

Don't most people regard 2007 as prior to 2008?

Of course it was. But after the continuing threats from Carlton, the Southport Sharks and the AFL to buy you out, it became plainly obvious the shareholder system was flawed and needed to be changed. The relocation threat would only have persisted if the ownership wasn't changed.

Speaking of ownership, what's all this about?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Melbourne_Football_Club

The North Melbourne Football Club is a non-profit organisation limited by guarantee. Members of the club serve as the guarantees of capital

Sorry, I keep forgetting your version of history, where Brayshaw played no role whatsoever in North's decision to reject relocation.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Do you also have an alternate reality, where Peter Gordon and Irene Charfield played no role in rejecting the Footscray-Fitzroy merger?

Peter Gordon & Irene Chatfield didn't accede to a merger conditional only on a stadium deal.

At North the club is bigger then the individual just remember that when you ask stupid questions,it's why we have 4 flags and you underachievers have 1.

Oh and for the record the redevelopment is costing 20 million seen the plans and think you are being majorley ripped off.

Possibly true. But that doesn't change the fact that the board, under Brayshaw, rejected the GC offer, and that PdR (and other shareholders) returned the club to the members about a year after that. Your previous comment had it the other way around.

Nor did the North board.

Some of the previous board were keen on the GC deal, some were against it, others were willing to consider all possibilities ; the fact is that the club rejected the offer that the AFL was prepared to make. No rewriting of history can change that, Josef.

It took me a while but I think I've deciphered your post. It doesn't sound like a club that regularly rigs it's elections though. Sure we're talking about the same Norf?

That's the great thing about being a dictator, you get to re-write history in your favor.

Five years from now if Norf are still around (longshot) Brayshaw will probably be known as the man who hired Dennis Pagan, first spotted Wayne Carey, dreamed up the idea of Friday Night football, and so on........

The sad part is that Norf flogs like yourself will be every bit naive enough to believe it.

No, he will be known as the man who took on the chairman's job at possibly the darkest moment in the club's history, and helped us reject the relocation bribe, and secure our future as a Victorian club.....under his leadership, the board has negotiated the return of the club to the members, got the Arden St redevelopment through on time and under budget, recruited Eugene Arocca, appointed Brad Scott, and increased the football department budget.

In other words, he laid the groundwork for North to achieve success over the coming years. Admit it Bosk, it's your worst nightmare.
:D

So... JB Mugabe is securing Norf's future as a Victorian club by playing games in Tassie? Makes sense.

As for Norf's "darkest moment", are you suggesting JB was sharing that toilet with both of them?!?
