been a fair bit of doom & gloom & finger pointing of late regards recent performances of players & coach alike

however i predict with some certainty we will see a markedly different essendon side emerge over the next 2-3 months, one because the penny will start to drop for many players as to what knights actually wants them doing attacking wise, two because returns from injury will commence & three because knights will begin implementation of his defensive vision

may not win a whole lot of games in that period but the blowouts will be reduced & the signs of a competitive unit will emerge, & a strong finish to the season will be on the cards

so to those with the knives out at present, get ready to put them away, they wont be needed

not so gloom & doom after all eh?

freo - got to be a valid chance against harves rabble
lions - tough but winnable at td
tigers - revenge is sweet so a definite maybe
pies - looks like they are on the way down but tough
demons - unlikely to lose against the worst in the comp
eagles - at subi again, but they should be in full tank mode by then
adelaide - would think no but at td who knows
doggies - nup
saints - yes please

so would think theres at least 4 wins there at worst if the gradual improvement shown over the last month continues & injuries dont gut us again

an 8/14 or 9/13 season 1st up for knights, i can live with that

Dont worry about this year. Next year is what we should be focusing on. Yesterdays performance proves that we've got the kids. We are coming along nicely and to add Gumby would be fantastic. For the rest of the year play the kids. Make the reliance on the old guys (Lloyd and Lucas and co) less and less and that will be our the beginning of success. ;)

always hate to say 'i told you so'

but guess what, i did!:thumbsu:

& i believe im right in saying our win over freo was the 1st win this season when we have scored less than 100 points, a sure sign the defense is coming together & all the more sweeter considering that fletch was out for a fair chunk of the game

i wouldnt call fletch's injury a blessing in disguise, but his absence for a couple weeks at this stage of the season, with team confidence up, may well help gell the younger players down back

Good stuff Mango, blessing in disguise it might of been and might be. Ryder did pretty well i thought yesterday especailly in the air.

Just a question to everyone, why can't we beat footscray?

There is not one game for the rest of the season that is not winnable. I actually think we have a better hope against the Bulldogs then a few other sides in our run home. We match up well against them and had their measure at the start of the year untill our 3 best mids for the day went down. Winders lonergan mcviegh, winders 3rd qtr was probably his best qtr for the club.

I'd say Collingwood will be our toughest game to win. In saying this we can beat every side we play but we could also lose to every side we play. My tip is we will win 5/9.

versus the dogs last time was when mcveigh went down i think & we were well in the match at that point

if we can keep the injuries to a min then we would have to be a solid chance against almost anyone, barring geelong

also seems evident that knights is coaching well with sensible matchups recently, looking forward to seeing how he fairs against mathews

While I'm probably a bit more cautious now as it really is business end for the dogs. They've hadthe rest of the season to put things together even better and they're pushing to secure a top 2 spot.

That said, we didn't have Lucas against the dogs either. Which I think it the primary reason for our improve over the last 5 weeks
