If we lose tonight we will not win the Grand Final. The boys need to be switched on for four quarters for the first time all year. Injuries need to be ignored. No excuses.

I can't seem to embed YouTube videos properly but here's some links. Psych yourselves up!!! NEVER SURRENDER!!!

And remember, when we were CHAMPIONS:

I'm confident we can do it all again. We're the WEST COAST EAGLES damn it. We ARE the greatest. Let's show the whole country what we're made of.

Im not to worried to be honest. While it would be great to have the week off and get any players that are injured right, we did lose the first qualifying final last year...AND AT HOME.

Im pretty sure this place went bezerk that time aswell. But we will still be a chance for the Premiership even if we lose this week

yeh??...i dont know how you can say that..have you told woosha+crew? do they believe that?..they could be switched on for 4 qrtrs and still lose(by 10 goals or 1 point!?)..and then they could get up next week and go on to GF..like last year..sure got injuries, but also got more depth now than last year...anythings possible, always was, always will be..

I pee a little every time I think about tonight's game. It's going to be a long (and wet) day.

Don't kid yourselves. This is an Elimination Final in all but name, and needs to be treated as such. Finals are won and lost in the head and the attitude that says "There's always next week!" or "We managed to do it last year!" is doomed to failure. That's not a West Coast mentality. Take a trip down the road to Freo, they'll accept you.

We need to put everything on the line tonight, with the belief that if we lose tonight there WON'T BE a next week. That frame of mind will lead to victory.

We're undermanned and underdone. This is when legends are made.

That footage of last year seems better then usual now.

Waters mark
Embleys mark
Chicks smother pass shephard
Judd ripping it out of packs
Wirra diving on everything in defense
Cousins running from wing to wing and pressuring the final kick
Rojo Running through the swans in the middle when it looked they'd score
fletcher getting vital clearances.

I loved it all.

we're fans and analytical, not the team you chump

im sure the team will be approaching it that way but why should we? What real impact do we have on the result barring a few cheers?

If we lose, we play Sydney or Collingwood at home. If we win that, we will play Geelong or North a week later at the MCG. Win that and it's a GF appearance at the MCG.

The fitness/performance of Judd, match fitness of Embley, progress of Hansen and Kerr and the prospect of further injuries in tonight's match are arguably more important factors than the result.

It's about getting to the GF, and getting our best players fit and in form. It's not about how to get there.

A week's break will do more for Judd et al. than facing Geelong in Melbourne a week before the Grand Final.

Winning tonight is the only way we'll get there.
I agree with you.

Win tonight and we will play in the GF, lose and we will go out in the Prelim.

Last year was different, we had got it together by the end of the year injury wise. Judd played a fantastic finals series, he wont do that this year because he simply cant physically. This year the week off is crucial to our chances as we have a lot of players who are just limping over the line each week.

Win tonight and keep the same team on the park for the Prelim and GF and we are a chance on the day. Lose or get an injury to a key player and I will enjoy the ride for the following two weeks, but know we will not be Premiers this year.

Now THAT is a defeatist attitude

No, because unlike the majority of people I have spoken to this week, I actually think we can win tonight!

Beinging realistic though, if we dont we are pushing it up hill. Yes we did it last year, but we had a weeks less travel and the best players in our team were able to give us their best performances.

I'm all for not finding out if we can or cant, just win tonight boys so we never have to find out!:thumbsu:

I think pointless bickering on the eve of the most important game of the year thus far is pathetic. I cured myself by rewatching the last five minutes of the 2006 AFL Grand Final, conveniently provided in the very first post.

GO EAGLES! I know we can do it.

What complete bollocks.

Stop making stupid sweeping statements that anyone with a brain can recognise as hot air.

Haven't you heard of similar things like 'finals type' footy? Freo excel at it, apparently.

If you dress something up to be more important and dramatic than it really is, it makes you look deep and clever.

Well then can i just say guys, this means so much for our boys, if they don't win they'll probably not make the finals the next 3 years.
