Aka as nuffy. Seems the definition of this term has changed over time. I always thought a nuff nuff was someone like Angus Kennett. Long hair, bit of a peanut, laughs at his own jokes and wears certain clothing brands that nuff nuff wears.

Is this wrong?

No, the word for Angus is "ponce" or "twit".

These days "nuffy" generally refers to one suffering an intellectual or psychological disability. A pretty nasty and cheap term for people who have already received the arse end of life's stick.

I agree with this interpretation. I also use it as an endearing term sometimes - ie when I call my wife a Nuff-Nuff, for doing something stupid...

Agree. That's the only interpretation I've ever used for it, however I do recall years ago someone saying they thought it referred to someone who was good looking.

Pretty sure its a "Victorian" word, people in Qld didnt have a clue what I was referring to when I used to use it up there, although by now it may have spread further afield.

My understanding is that 'nuff nuff' refers to people who are born with a cleft palate, or a harelip. It is a very cheap shot at their enforced speech impediment. In recent years it has been used as a generic term for people who are stupid.

Nuff said.

I always thought that a nuff nuff was someone who was not very bright but not to the point of being intellectually handicapped - that wouldn't be quite PC and I would never use that term again if that was the case.

Nuff Nuff

Nuffy= stuffing something up or can't get it right...

l should know, l deal with it every day.

I work as a carer for the intellectually disabled and can assure you that, as sad as it is, the word "nuffy" is a common term amongst staff to describe the clients.

I haven't heard that expression for years. Meaning someone who's a bit slow or stupid - it was an insult I used in my younger days, but it's been years since I've heard anyone say it. Maybe it's a Victorian thing and I haven't heard it since I moved to Sydney.

The meaning of nuff nuff IMO is dependent where you live. I swear that in Eastern surburbia it has a different meaning.
