With Chris Newman taking the captainsy. Who do you see filling in the vacant #1 on their back?

I'd like to see Kel Moore take it, seeing as he is now in the leadership group and leaving #40 for a rookie or new draftee.

And with the recent retirements/sackings, that leaves numbers;

#31
#32
#33
#40 (If Moore does take #1)
#43
#45

So a few smaller numbers in their, I would see Thomson getting #22. While the rest would be decided on their draft positions.

Chris Newmans number will not be touched until he retires or gives up the captaincy.

He takes the Captains #17 and the Number #1 is left vacated for him.

Never heard of that happening before. Didn't Carl Peterson take 28 when we drafted him when Johnson was skipper?

the lowest draft pick gets the lowest no. the 2nd gets the second lowest and so on i would think and hope unless we get cousins we will have to give him a respectable number

sounds great to me cousins will play 4-5 years and newman will be captain for 4-5 years before handing over to delidio,foley or cotchin.

somebody who is good with photoshop should do a photo of cousins in the tiger gear, would be great to see how it looks

It's always been the way that the original number gets mothballed.

I don't see why everyone gets so bent out of shape about Newman and number 1. He was 35 for years before that.

The ONLY bad thing I see is what if (say) Paul Broderick's son (if he has one) gets drafted by us. He wont be able to wear his dad's number, well, unless he becomes captain.

Well, it is the theory that the player's number gets mothballed when he becomes captain, but seeing as we've only had Campbell and Johnson move to the 17, and as was pointed out, Carl Peterson got Johnson's 28 - I wouldn't say it was set in stone.

Of course the reason behind that was Peterson got a locker between Krakouer, JON and Tambling, so maybe you just need a good enough excuse to throw 3 years of tradition out the window.

12 should be retired untill richo himself decides on the player he wants to wear it. he has been a legend & been the highlight in our worst era
he deserves that privledge.
