I was pretty happy to read that as well. Looking at that article, we now have #7 available. You think that might be being kept for Buckley? That's all I can think of, because I don't see them giving that number to a player from the Rookie Draft.

Wallis' father Steve wore No.24 in 261 games for Footscray.

Liberatore's father Tony wore No.39 in 283 games from 1986 to 2002

Not sure, but to make a sweeping generalisation, #7 is widely considered a 'lucky' number... a lot of kids tend to fall under it's spell, so you might be onto something

I really love the fact that he's not content to walk in his father's shadow. Much more reassuring, given the price we're likely to pay. With the (theoretically great, but let's conservatively say impressive) state of our list, kids with ambition are a much greater asset than 'yes men' or complacent blokes with expectations that outweigh their proven efforts.

Looking forward to the day we call his name out in November. Even more importantly, I'm REALLY looking forward to the day that I scream out his name as he's receiving his premiership medal!
