Karl Langdon introduced Nathan to the show by stating that Adelaide had a blockbuster game against Richmind this Friday night...after about 2 seconds shocked silence Karl followed on by saying that each game has to be treated as a blockbuster so complacency doesnt set in
''Yeah thats true ''
Nathan then said that ''we'' would play our own style and ''we'' wouldnt be worried about how Richmond play or approach the match.
Due to a few issues being thrown around Perth radio he was then asked by Adrian Barich what he thought about West Coast wearing the SOO jumper from 1977
'' Uhh havent heard too much about that, we just get the Port/Collingwood jumper issues''
He was then asked his feelings on SOO and said that the idea was good and maybe one day he would like to play it if it didnt affect club football. Basically said that with the intensity etc the players really looked forward to the split round and a rest to get the bodies right.
Then his level of fitness was raised and he was asked if he had improved his level of fitness and was he initially shocked at the leap ( he was known for his high fitness levels at West Perth ) he said that it was a jump but he appreciated the challenge. He was asked if it was true he had gone under 10 minutes for the 3km trial. He said that 5 had and that Brett Burton had the record at 9m 35 sec. He was 5or so seconds back and a few just under 10m
He was then asked about the injuries and how the depth had been tested. He said it was a good opportunity for the younger blokes to shine and ''we'' can see that they get a lot of benefit from getting match time and ''we'' will see that pay off in games and years to come.
Was asked about Roo and Stiffy and Roo was a setback but should be hopefully back to speed in a few weeks, Stiffy he said would be putting his name for selection in 2 weeks.
He was also asked about the melee rule and if players think about the money or helping a teammate, he said that you dont think about the money side, all you are looking to do is fly the flag for a team mate and make sure he is ok
Overall a soft interview and they didnt mention his re-signing nor ask about the match apart from the opening quote. I was MOST interested in his use of ''we'' to indicate a club mentality and one that seemed to indicate leader.
Hope that helps
