Seriously, why would he want to come to Port if he cares about his career? We have an unknown entity, Carr, mentored by a known entity Ken and a bunch of insipid players.
I wouldn’t really blame him if he decided he wanted to come home but chose our neighbours. Who wants to be on a loser?
Disappointing, but that is where we are at and what our administration has done.
I am seriously losing interest in our team and in the AFL in general.
Port is in a pretty good place. It’s not as doom and gloom as many make it out to be.

This year was rough with injuries, but Port have finished Top 4, 4 of the last 6 years, at the same time, going through a rebuild of sorts. The majority of the best team are Rozee/Butters age 25 and less, with really just these Best 22 players over that age:

Farell/Marshall/Zerk/Drew 26
Sweet/Esava/SPP 27
DBJ 29
Willie/Ollie/Allir 30

Butters/Rozee etc our leaders, at least have been in a culture of winning more than losing. This is a big step up, from the last leadership group of Boak, Westhoff, Jonas, Hartlett that just had loser embedded in them from the dark days.

What could NWM not like about a future midfield of Butters, Bergman, Rozee, JHF.

And also as a First Nations player having Shaun Burgoyne and Jason Williams around the club, along with the other boys including his good mates JHF, and Burgoyne.

Elite players are needed for winning flags, with NWM we would have a good mix of match winners - but a full list is needed to get there.

Like many have said it’s the next wave- Visentini, Richards, Evan’s, Jones, Burgoyne, Sinn, Whitlock, Moraes, Berry, Jackson and Cochrane(s) which need to become reliable solid players, and ultimately bypass the old blokes like Boak/Wines/Drew/DBJ, etc.

Competition for spots would be a good thing. And yeah Josh Carr is an unknown, but I’m sure Gav, the Burgoynes and Flash has given some insight into the man. This is probably more important than anything else.

Didn’t he troll everyone by posting pics of him kicking the footy with Petrenko?

And then the gum chewing in his first presser lol
And Hinkley ripped the shit out of him publicly on day 1 of preseason for a poor time trial performance, even though he had tonsillitis 😂.

That Ken before he gave up was pretty good.

If we make it past this weekend without a signature he’s all but gone in my opinion.

There’s just absolutely 0 good reasons why he wouldn’t have signed or at worst just committed to the club after that win on the weekend.

We’re at round 21 and his value will never be higher after that. Doesn’t have to be pen to paper but no commitment by this week and he’s out (hopefully no late swoop by the Crows).

Plus the Saints don't have any finals to look forward to so, you think they'd be desperate to drop any re-signing news in the next week or so to give their supporters something to cling onto.

If he requests are trade to us, lets hope he does it right after round 24, not deep into finals and make it seem like he is waiting for the clowns to lose in the finals.

Seriously though, how does this trade get done?
Saints would want three early first rounders. I doubt they would be able to get that.

One way I can see this deal being done is getting over clubs involved in the deal. GC, Swans, Lions, Giants and even the Blues should be consulted on a potential trade. GC, Lions, Swans and Blues need points for their academy players and FS for the Blues.

Saints are keen for Aleer and Giants want something decent, so they could involve in the trade.

Port will need to offload their 2026 first rounder and somehow generate another first rounder with their draft hand and do some pick swaps.

Harden up sooky la la

I think NAS is waiting to request Port to make sure a trade can actually get done.

Port may be working behind the scenes to get a top 10 pick in this draft.

They can then offer 2 firsts of which both are likely top 10 (top 10 this draft and their future first in an a stacked draft class before Tassie come in and ruin every draft) and a player like Berry.

If they can get their hands on a top 10 pick off GC or any of the other clubs, the deal will be all but certain to be able to be done if NAS does request out.

Saints will bitch and moan but 2 top 10 picks and a just gone first rounder who they highly highly rated is a great haul. Would be one of the biggest trade packages in AFL history, let alone for an uncontracted player and they'd rightfully deserve it.

Doubt he will do it until after the Saints BnF.

I'm not even sure Jasper was that bad any more. A decade of mediocre footballers got me here..

His intercept marking for a 186cm player was elite. knew how to read the play and where to drop into the hole.

If it wasn’t for those brain dead weird mental lapses he would be a beloved champion of the club imo.

Why did Dawson and rankine choose the crows when they were a bottom four club with several years of disappointment ahead of them.

This whole why choose port thing is seriously overrated in my view.

They chose them because of childhood love for the club, money and the belief the list wouldn’t be shit forever
Like it’s almost the same scenario for NWM

Maybe he should just become a punter for the Philadelphia Eagles or someone, make a shedload more money and be basically anonymous. And then we can all get on with our lives :tearsofjoy:
