Butters is our best player at this moment of time. As was Lockett when he was at St Kilda. I'm not making a comparison of who is better.

Understood.

I saw Kornes talking about Butters being a heart and soul player that you blokes can't afford to lose. I definitely rate Butters as one of the best mids in the league and can understand the reticence to lose him. At least you can hold him to his contract for now.

The reality is that Nas and butters at thier respective clubs are tracking to be all time greats at port and saints.

But saints fans wanting butters and a sweatner is soo ludircrous

Of course. I was just saying if it was to do with money, etc etc.

Honestly, though, if he did ask for a trade, where is Port getting the picks? You'll have to give up something decent. The dogs think they are getting Butters either this year or next.

The Victorian media have been pumping up Butters leaving for quite a few years now. It hasn't happened yet, and the indications I've gotten are that he's very happy at the Club. If he leaves, so be it, but it won't be until the end of next season at the earliest.

The price for NWM is not going to be what Saints fans expect in the event he does request a trade. Part of that is being off-contract, but the other part is the Club he will nominate will likely not have what St. Kilda demand in a trade anyway.

Everyone knows it will get to a point where St. Kilda will not accept losing him for nothing, especially if a trade offer is at the very least, two 1st round picks. That is not to say that St. Kilda are just going to bend over and take whatever they can get either. There will be a happy medium found. Two first round picks is a very good starting point in negotiations irrespective of what the demands might be.

If Nas happens to request a trade it will get done.

Port fans will feel we over paid for the situation and Saints fans will feel like they got unders, so in the end nobody will be happy which will be the sign of a market fair trade.

If we keep Butters I can't see any price that we pay that we will be unhappy with.

As we saw last year with Houston, he nominated Collingwood who did not have the currency to get a 3 year contracted player coming off 2 consecutive All Australians, but that didn't matter. Port took what they could get for a player who wanted to leave.

It's a non-issue for an out of contract player. He'll get wherever he wants to go. If it's Port, they'll make a fair offer with that they have and that'll be enough (after Trade Radio has sold some tyres, Macca's and air conditioners pretending it isn't).

Very well said

Jai Newcombe has signed a 6 year deal with Hawthorn, so I guess any day now ...

Lol tom.

I made bullshit up about ken being likely sacked last year on X and he messaged me directly asking if it were real.

Muppet.

How’s that a muppet?
He’s literally checking as people often have inside mail.

In the end:

Whitlock based on his form and key forward potential or Berry would be 1 first rounder in this years draft (Pick 8-12) - whether St Kilda want them or not, we could get that value back for them with another club.

Next years first (6-10)

and a depth player (18-22). Nobody good will want to break contract and go to the Saints.

But we like mega trades, and will want draft points next year, so we will see what happens.

Koch and Co are the kind of cucks who would be the first ones calling John Olsen to celebrate the achievement because it's good for SA.

The current administration are so delusional and oblivious to what it means to be Port Adelaide. There is nothing that would shake them into gear. They are, imo, beyond reproach.
When the next in line is supposedly Cardone, we're well and truly ****ed for some time.

We are still trying too hard.

Different story if Whitlock wants a trade but we have an out of contract ex St Kilda player we are possibly offering 500k a year more than they are.

Not handing Whitlock over.

I’m more likely to hand the other Jack over.

When you look at our squad, outside of Bergs, Butters, JHF, Georgie and Rozee

Even if we accepted that that were true, that is still potentially the best midfield in the comp.

We haven't begun to see what they could be if they were all playing to their potential under a decent coach.

Hopefully we will.

If Soldo goes, Whitlock has to stay.

Almost prefer to give up Farrell, Lorenz and a first rounders, pay some of Farrells wages. And get a few of the smaller guys off the list.
