Interesting, who would they want? Dimma would like L Jones plus picks

A player is no use to them, they need points. There would be no purpose to them taking a player and diluting the points value we would give them. It's all about picks.

we would need to swap our future second into a 2025 2nd Round then take that, our current 2nd and our 3rd and swap that for Pick 7 2025. That then gets us our 2x first round picks for NWM. That would mean maybe re-drafting delisted players late in the draft.

Maybe this was part of the long game plan when we took Ratkins and gave them overs for Luko.

A bunch of seconds and thirds this year for some first rounders that aren't using.

Well GC owe us for taking Ratkins off their hands, don’t they?

C4 did mention a Jack Bowes type deal for Davies

PSD is on the table inasmuch as it's a nobody gets him nuclear option. If he goes PSD, the Saints lose him for nothing, and we've failed to gain ground but we haven't lost any either, so it's worse for them than it is for us. But if he goes to the PSD I'd bet my house he doesn't get past Essendon, if he's not already taken before then which I expect he would be.

It's presumably all a moot point anyway, because our offer will be enough that the Saints aren't going to send him to the PSD to make a point, even if it's not what they consider fair value. We did it with Stevens, but our offer for NWM will be significantly more than Collingwood's offer was for Stevens. It won't be the sort of offer you reject on principle.
Yes, so we're in agreement on everything other than the fact you think Essendon would take him. I would bet my house they wouldn't. They gain nothing out of picking up a guy that doesn't want to play there, for a year before he just goes again, other than wasting all the salary cap leverage they might currently be building for players they could target as FAs that could actually add value to them long term.

We've seen this play out many times historically, not so many recently, but the players always get where they want to go.

I think we'll get a deal done, but I think it'll happen in the last minutes of trade period and StKilda supporters will be laugh reacting lots of realistic posts for the next couple months and then complaining all over BigFooty for the next 3 years when they dont get what they expect.

Essendons board are not signing off on paying 2,000,000 plus on a player they haven’t interviewed and don’t have a medical on along the the fact they know he doesn’t want to be there. No club will.

WILL. NOT. HAPPEN.

Plus couldn't NAS theoretically put a 1 year, $3mil price tag on his head.

He goes to WC, Richmond, Ess they absolutely destroy their cap, can't sign a single other player, waste $3mil and then he gets moved to Port at the end of the year.

Or, he gets through to Port for nothing, we then extend him on a cheaper extension, E.g.
1 Year 3mil
extend him 5 years 1.2mil per year
= 6 year 1.5mil per year average cost.

Port don't have the confidence to even loosely threaten the PSD. They want to be seen as nice guys easy to deal with - which saw them absolutely screwed last year.

It'd be great if they did, and it happened though. The rage from the VIC media would be the most entertaining thing the PAFC has done in 20 years.

Agreed we have been by far the "too nice" club at the trade table for the last decade.

Would be nice if we had Andrew Mackie as the list manager.

That said, we've had much more good talent come in than we have had leave the club.

The last few years haven't been great but prior to that we were a destination club that basically lost no players we didn't want to get rid of.

When we get Nasiah, I assume he's going into the midfield, is he going to get tagged over Butters?

Wanganeen-Milera, Butters, Horne-Francis, Bergman
Wines, Drew, Jackson

with Rozee getting midfield stats from the half back.

They'd rotate depending on opposition and what's needed at the time. But having Butters, Hornet and NWM all In there would be painful for opposition on who they should take and/or tag. They thought Butters, Rozee and Hornet were the three... take rozee out and NWM in there and that's worse for opposition and stronger. Providing Sweet gets his hit outs perfected to the player(s) or Vis steps up.

I knew I'd forgotten someone and it was the freaking Hornet.

Nasiah, Butters, Hornet, Bergman is a very powerful, multi-dimensional midfield.

It doesn't really matter who you tag as there are three game winners there and Bergman is no slouch.

Actually if a mid season trade period came into being Nas could possibly put a 6 month contract out there and it’s trade or into the mid season draft?
