As for compo, he'd be a restricted free agent. So assuming he agrees to terms with a Vic club and Port elects to match the offer, a trade would most likely be in the vicinity of two first round picks. Would like to think they could get more but we know how the narrative will be spun when it comes to an out of contract player playing for an interstate side wanting to return to the homeland of football

Don't get your hopes up. Might be able to add one reasonable player of note, but I think this is going to shape up to be a pretty boring off-season in terms of player acquisition.

Clubs are stupidly offering huge amounts for decade or longer deals, and managers asking for stupid amounts over a decade or longer. So journos exaggerating isn't that out of whack.

I hope Morris has exaggerated and just applied what Saints offered NWM for 2 years to a longer term deal Port put on the table. I doubt we offered $2.5m over 12 years but $18-$20m over 10 years would be more realistic.

They all assume the next 7 year TV/Media deal is going to increase by $1 billion, when there is a good chance it decreases, by up to $1 billion.

Isnt the purpose of a football forum to discuss football, theoretical or otherwise? If there was no thread, it would have just stunk up the entire list management, general afl talk threads etc.

These things absolutely deserve a thread, even early days.
