Have said it before and will say it again, the bottom half of our list needs to be improved and thats not to do with A graders. Its to do with hard nuts that leave nothing on-field and play their roles well

Yep - it's that second tier of players which really need to step up. Specifically, I believe they need a few of the following to turn into legitimate and reliable players, with ideally a few turning into A graders.

  • Sinn
  • Lorenz
  • Jackson
  • Evans
  • Liddy
  • Moraes
  • Berry
  • Whitlock

And in our position with draft picks we have and Tassie coming in it’s not going to happen overnight.
People need to be patient.

The Tassie situation is a furphy when it comes to the potential of it negatively impacting Port, on the proviso that Port will get access to Pilot as an NGA, and Salopek and possibly Rodan as F/S players in 2027, the very year which it's expected Tassie will "compromise" the draft.

Hey guys just seen it reported port offered NAS 12 yrs at 30mil is that true?
Probably not. I quoted Tom Morris from Fox Sports and RossFC said Morris has removed the tweet.

I was more on about the picks, forgetting the above accesses if we do finish in the bottom 4 or 5 the picks we would normally receive would be pushed out till after Tassie have a go as it was like with GWS.
It wouldn’t be just for that year also like GWS got concussions for years after.
My point is if we’re in the bottom half a semi rebuild will take much longer and that’s why I believe supporters need to be more patient

A question Chewy.

In two years from now when nas contract is up for renewal again.

Will we keep this current contact that we offered him now in two years or do we go back to the drawing board?

I personally that he rejected us because he wants to come but he wants to see what Josh does along with us resigning Butters, Bergs and co.

There's a reasonable chance that Pilot would be a top 5 pick anyway, and Salopek and Rodan are currently projected to go in the first round provided they continue on their current developmental path.

So it won't matter where Port finishes at the end of 26, they'll more than likely get access to these players which will accelerate any necessary retooling of the list.

Back to the drawing board. Impossible to know what the landscape could be in 2 years time.

Well it's not unexpected. Pretty sure he wants to come to Port, but we don't have the capital to do the trade this year. Hence why he only signed a two year deal. A lot could happen in the next 1-2 years, like will Butters stay or leave next year? Bergman in two years? Will Port be a bottom four team? etc.. Better for him to wait and see.
But $30 million for 12 years if that's true, holy
The $30M offer is not true but something around $18-20M as RussellEbertHandball mentioned this does reveal our cards tho.

The clubs got cash and naturally apart from resigning Butters it needs to start bringing in important signings.

We have never been known as big spenders especially under the current administration.
We don't have to be big spenders, per se; just bringing in good depth is important. That said, it will be interesting to see what we do in the next two off-seasons apart from trying to re-sign Zak.

The idea that NWM would have turned down 2.5 a year forever at Port to take 1.5 million for a couple years at the Crows is deranged fan fiction that only ABAB or Geoffa could come up with.

Why are interstate journos reporting this sort of crap? Lol

Player prices are going up faster than lamb prices😂. We have to dump around 10 players over time at least and we have to draft the right types.
That’s something we haven’t been that good at lately.

Cal Twombey has released article which debunks the 30m.

basically our offer was on a par with St Kilda and a bit more than Adelaide. all three clubs s had offered a range of years.

That’s my point. Bring in good role players and at a good price. Easier said then done.

We will never know, but I can't help but think Ports form was a factor here.

They have got a % under 80 and have been genuinely awful this year.
Which is exactly what you'd expect by giving a year long farewell to a selfish failure.

It could be many things, I think the most likely answer is we just lacked the resources, but end of the day our performances certainly didnt help.

That’s exactly what we need the question is do we have the right people in charge of drafting to bring in these people we desperately need.
Remember these are the same people that brought in Jed, Mead, gave up a lot for Sinn and a host of other duds.
They draft the players not the coach.

watching Nas talk about signing on with Saints and about the fans and reading his DM's and messages... and all I'm thinking is, did you not see the amount of saints fans already calling him a mummy's boy and that they'll boo him 🤦 Good on him though, really, if he feels it's good there and wants to make something for himself and his career then go for gold. Just a shame that he'd be better off at Port.
