That’s exactly what we need the question is do we have the right people in charge of drafting to bring in these people we desperately need.
Remember these are the same people that brought in Jed, Mead, gave up a lot for Sinn and a host of other duds.
They draft the players not the coach.
The short answer is no especially with CD. Cripps the jury’s still out on him for mine but he need to have a really good trade period come October.

In Josh I have a lot of confidence and faith in him that he will be our next premiership coach.

Be humble lad. He might leave in 2 years.

Definitely could, just havin a laff. Mostly. Not above relocating the football club to South Australia though if it means keeping Nas (… and Wilkie, Pou, Dodson and all our other SA lads).
We got a Seaford down here, you can replace or merge with South Adelaide.

Lol @ Crows media. NAS story broadcast with a big PAFC logo and story about how Port missed out. I mean lol, yes we did, of course we did, but just yesterday the Crows were apparently first in line. Of course though in SA there cant be a bad luck story about the Crows. ****in SA media.

Ive always thought 2 years to NAS at the Saints was most likely. I didn't think we'd get a deal done. With the possible FS and Academy kids coming in, this might work out well for us as we'll have all our currency to maximise what we get out of trading out early picks. Ive made it clear i think we are in rebuild mode and holding currency during that period where we could get some big name draft picks in might be better long term.

Yet they were beating the drum on “nas is leaning to crows”

The SA Media are so fücking insufferable please don’t get me started.

Cal Twombey has released article which debunks the 30m.

basically our offer was on a par with St Kilda and a bit more than Adelaide. all three clubs s had offered a range of years.
Tom Morris has dropped to at least 6 years and 2+ million for Port's offer on the 6pm Channel 9 bulletin. Just more guessing.

Also I suggest to Port fans to at least wait for a trade request next time before making threads about oppo players. It didn’t backfire too hard on us this time, but it could have been a lot worse.
Whats the fear here? Whats wrong with discussing a relevant player to the club? I feel like its been a good thread.

So in essence our offer was over ten million less than was reported by Tom Morris

… and you could argue that St Kilda offer had the highest annual value.

i suspect the last time Tom Morris made a mistake this large it cost him his job.

Seems Port were prepared to threaten PSD

Port's average on the final 8 years was 1.2M per year, with possible escalators taking it to the numbers Cleary has mentioned above.

The total I mentioned earlier in this thread today was 16M over the life of the deal which matches up with this report.

And in our position with draft picks we have and Tassie coming in it’s not going to happen overnight.
People need to be patient.
I disagree, the role players in a squad come via speculative picks who have strong development coaches around them usually. If we significantly improve our coaching department then we can find these players over an offseason

Price will be in the 2M range.

As for compo, he'd be a restricted free agent. So assuming he agrees to terms with a Vic club and Port elects to match the offer, a trade would most likely be in the vicinity of two first round picks. Would like to think they could get more but we know how the narrative will be spun when it comes to an out of contract player playing for an interstate side wanting to return to the homeland of football 🤦
it’ll be quite disappointing if Butters decides to take up a RFA offer thb.
He’s been the heart and soul of this club for the last 5 years..

So sounds like from Ross own mouth they weren't going to trade him and get nasty probably to the point of forcing him to delist himself and enter the draft or sign what they've offered. Makes more sense now. He and Saints will try and do the same shit in 2 years time as well. I genuinely believe Nas did want to return home now even more so and it was put to him that it would be nasty and a PSD risk of not getting back because they weren't going to trade no matter what.

Shows exactly what sort of footy club Saints are especially with the whole rich friends trying to smooth him over too. And these **** saint supporter on here acting the way they do and calling Port a rabble... 😂 Have to buy their way to some sort of contention because the club is clearly a shit house club and culture overall hence why they bitch and moan all the time. Guess they can enjoy being known as one of the biggest flop clubs with all the wooden spoons and lack of flags through out history.

If he leaves it's to return home to Victoria, rather than being a case of jumping off a sinking ship.

Much easier to say this after the fact.

Kinda annoyed hearing it. He was acting as if Nas is still contracted when he is out of contract, although not a free agent so Saints can technically do what they want really and be pricks. Terrible club.

That's just Ross being Ross.

Hey guys just seen it reported port offered NAS 12 yrs at 30mil is that true?

This post above indicates how Morris probably blew out the 12 x $2.5m. Looks like we front loaded our 10 year offer with the first 2 years of $2.5m, and about $16-$17m all up.
