off season concept

with the Beach Cricket going so well and the seeing the legends play, i thought seeing an off season "AFL Beach Footy" would be great

basicly, any club which can justify 8 players as "legends" can compete, and a maximum of 10 can copmpete in a match (two interchange) but an interchange aint necessary

Rules are that the person must have served:
1) 10 years at the club (not an affiliate)
or
2) a minimum of 100games at the club (no affiliate)

only acceptions to this are brisbane and sydney who could use sth melbourne/fitzroy legends

basically, on a beach (well dah) goals are set up say... 70-100m apart, 3 defenders, 3 forwards and 2 midfielders. Using a beach footy (they are a hell of alot harder to kick)and slightly modified rules, basically the aim is to outscore the other


10 min halves, in a knockout format played either on the same day, or over 2 days/weekends



who else likes this idea? if so, post the team you would like to see representing your club

Problem is, that most legends from teams like Richmond, would include blokes like Bartlett.

I doubt he'd last 5 minutes without having a stroke.

I can just imagine Whale Roberts or Mick Nolan running around.

Having said that having Helen Damico do a streak in each game would be a hoot ( or should that be hooters).

and even then as KB was being carted off the field ....he would still not give up the hand pass.

I think it could work - the legends game every year attracts a half-decent crowd and is televised.

Only problem would be greenpeace invading the field to pour buckets of water over Billy Brownless.

lol its a good suggestion. beach cricket is hilarious to watch (went today to scarbz to see it) it would work nicely on the field. imagine leigh matthews and neville bruns again or another 1985 Essendon vs Hawthorn blockbuster.
