Canada is so messed up. We do kilometers, ounces, centimeters, pounds etc. It's like they couldn't make up their mind.

I have found Canada to be a weird mixture of American, British and European (French) culture.

Pretty much. The French only is in certain areas. Apart from that, I find Canada to be very much like Australia. Moreso than Britain and probably rivaling New Zealand.

Nope. She's from Edmonton, Alberta. After Uni I did the pub thing in London. Aussie dollar was 33 pence at the time and I could never save enough to see more of Europe.

I didn't wan't to go home yet so after 5 months in London I took off to Calgary. I had friends there. Met my wife and her family were gracious enough to let me rent at their place. 6 months later she came back to Melbourne with me.

We lived there for 8 years, got married and made regular trips to Canada. She was always homesick. We decided to shake things up and give it a shot over here. We'd both only visited Vancouver briefly but I said I wasn't doing a -40 degree Prairie winter again!

Did anybody just watch a movie on SBS called Candy? I'd seen it before HL passed away but it's the first time since. Some will be able to relate to it in some way and others won't, but man was it sad to watch such a great actor under the circumstances that have taken place since.
