Enough of this shite about the 1st XVIII and bloody 10A footy, let's get down to the real blood and guts of APS footy, the 4ths.
personally I see St Kevin's as being a major threat with the likes of Hallett, Gannon and Cyril/Junior Karunaratne running around aimlessly week in, week out.
must look out for big mal from scotch, who uses 4ths as prep for his assault on the APS shot put title-unfortunately giving away many frees in the process.
naturally xavs always put in a good show, clash with skevs shall no doubt be a bruising encounter; xavier expected to bus their entire school over to watch.
the 4th XIX down at caulfield are shoe ins for another good season, but can expect plenty of head counts being called when they come up against st kevin's. the contentious "three wing cluster" (aka playing nineteen players on the field) has brought 4ths footy into disrepute with several games in 08 being called off mid-match. shall be interesting to see whether CGS go again with the 3-wing-cluster formation for 09.
haileybury, perenial cellar dwellers of the 4ths, no change there, especially now that st kevin's has procured the wealth of footballing knowledge that is mark "jefferey" harrington.
carey shall be there and abouts, consistently solid 4ths performers, but considering their 4ths is actually their second XVIII this is no surprise.
but for me, MGS is the wildcard of 09. j.bett should surely abandon any illusions of playing 3rds and just play 4ths as the 4s are much more to his skill level; too bad he can't employ his left arm orthodox deliveries with the oval ball.
wesley, geelong combined, and brighton should give up life (at least as far as 4ths footy is concerned).
thoughts lads?
