Apparently we've given permission to 2 players to train with us. Confirmed by Keane on Twitter just moments ago.

Hopefully who they are is released soon.

EDIT: Scratch that. Confirmed to be Derell Acrey and Quin Porter, the US athletes. Guess we already knew that.

I would imagine it would be that time in Arizona. Need special permission to train with the team, no matter what the length of time is.

If they came back with the team, that would definitely have been covered in some news article. And with Ashcroft pretty much ruling them out a week ago, would be very surprised if we picked them up now.

We are interested to make our club accessible to all different types of athletes, obviously with Karmichael Hunt coming in as an international athlete who played a different sport, Rugby League and Rugby Union and has made the transition extremely well, unfortunately we are not in a position to bring those type of athletes on in the next year, our list is reducing from 46 to 42 for 2013 and from 14 and 15 our list will come down a further four spots.

Yeh agree Lower is a big possession winner when played in the midfield. Good inside player at the right age. He is still training with Freo so maybe they are planning to rookie him. But if Broughton gets in his ear, and with a senior spot available at the Suns and say a 2yr deal, surely we could persuade him

So we are going to use #57. Really hope we go for 1 more proven experienced senior player like a Sam Lonergan/Nick Lower type that can give us an instant impact through the midfield, and not a 3rd round kid that would be 50/50 at best.

Interested to see who we'll take at #57. I wouldn't mind Sam Lonergan at that pick. Practically free. If we could take little nephew Jesse at #13 too, that would be doubly sweet.

Alternatively, if Boston is still available then, perhaps we can pick him up at #57.

Callum Twomey, the draft guru at AFL HQ believes we're keen on a few kids at #13.

The word on Simpson is indeed strong, but he also thinks Corr is a bigger chance of being picked up by us than Jesse Lonergan.

Additionally, if Vlastuin gets to #13 we'd look at it, and we also like Hrovat.

Good to see we're looking at legit inside players at the least! I guess it depends on who slides and who gets picked up.

What the heck are Freo thinking? First Broughton, now Lower. Really hope we pick Lower up somehow. Would be very good for us I think.

DE for inside mids is a bit misleading, simply because they're just hacking it out of the congestion quite a lot. Kicks in particular.

What's important is that he can actually find it. Not to mention his awesome defensive work. Just staggered he was delisted. Surely he'd be a depth player at worst?

Freo seem to want to clear as much cap space as possible for next season. Maybe they want to have a crack at Tippett in the PSD should GWS pull out.

He's a terrific clearance player and would most likely be your best inside mid after Ablett. Would set a great example for your young players too as he is literally fearless. Very disappointing. Last year when we got flogged by Collingwood he had a 37 possession 11 clearances game and has been a match-winner on two occasions I can think of (WB and Syd last year).

I actually hope he gets picked up by a team that'll play him predominantly in the middle because that's where he'll flourish. Port and now Freo have both mismanaged him.

DE isn't the best stat to apply to inside mids because many their possessions are often hurried kicks forward or ill-directed/deflected handballs, Lower is actually a very lovely long kick of the footy and uses it well in space, he's also quite reliable in front of goal.

Zac Dawson this year had a better DE than Nathan Fyfe for instance so I don't have much time for the DE stat usually.

Lower had an injury interrupted pre-season and took until about Rnd 6-7 IIRC until he was fit enough to be selected but then the weeks wore on an it became pretty evident he was out of favour.

During the year the boys asked dayle garlett what team would you like to play afl for. he replied,
well i would preffer and rather not play footy or live in queensland, adelaide ,sydney with the new teams and the other teams like
the cats, tigers, freo, north melb, blues he cant see himself playing for them as not a fan of them growing up so hopefully not them teams will be sweet. but the the rest is ok, so guys would you rather a player like vlastuin, jasksch, kennedy, clurey, stringer ect that are keen to play with pride as there is so many great kids around ?
