This weeks game could well and truly be decided out of the center square, and our boys certainly owe us a big game after last weeks game. Jobe cost us with his finishing and although Stants wasn't hopless last week I reckon he cant afford so long to work his way into games he has to start from the first bounce Murphy, Judd,Stevens etc could be our main dangers????

I agree that We need to win the midfield. If we do that, we win the game because Carltons defense is terrible. However I wouldnt say Jobe "cost us". He missed 3 goals in a 99 point loss. It wouldnthave made that much of a difference.

well your right.

The main batlle will be in the midfield.

The only way i see us winning is in the ruck contests if hille and laycock can really influence the game.

They have a better midfield than us [stevens judd murphy etc.] but we have good speed [windas, davey jetta etc] and jobe and stants will probably come back firing this week.

They are young, crack under the pressure and look behind most teams as far as fitness goes.

If we come out running hard and tackle fiercly and in gangs like we did in the NAB Cup we will win comfortably, if we don't work hard in the gut running and tackling areas it will probably be too close for comfort.

Sorry bit harsh with "costs us" but ultra important he learns to put those away espesially if his oponent goes foward and puts them through (cant remember if Ling goaled or not but if jobe had of goaled I don't belive ling would have got the opportunity.
Totally agree with Ryder comments on other thread forward 4 da boy this week:thumbsu:

Spot on.

Not sure if my ticker will be able to handle another close encounter between these two clubs. I'm hoping for a blow out, Ess way of course.

I heard The Dustbin isn't sure if his ticker will be able to handle another close encounter between these two clubs. He's hoping for a blow out, Ess way of course.

Is there a echo in the house?! :D

Ok, maybe I should've said I hope we pump Carl or I hope we thrash Carl.....

yep match them at the stoppages and we should be able to spare the Dustbins heart.

I didn't watch there game last week but was listening on the radio and they weren't all that complimentory about the fitness of some of there star mid's.

Hoping McVeigh can bounce back after having his colours lowered last week and Stants to make an early impact

Well I'm glad someone cares. :D

Stevens has been copping a bit on SEN today, Carl supporters saying he is fat, overwight, carrying a gut. Not conditioned etc etc

Apart from Stevens and Judd I would've thought all their other mids are 'fit'.

yep thats the two the boys on the radio were talking about. Judd mainly they said every time he came to the bench he was limping. (they couldn't see the point in him even playing).

I did also read somewhere the name Straunie mentioned in reference to Stevens.:p

Thats abit harsh but, it's a serious injury he's coming back from.

Good thread.

Watson, Mcveigh, Stanton in particular all need big games. Without them playing to their required standard we will struggle against all teams.

When they play well, they enable the likes of Dyson, Houli, Davey, Winderlich etc to play with their tails up which is that all round performance that we need.

Big test on Saturday (sounds strange given that they - Carlton, are if not the worst, the second worst side in the league)

Interesting point you make there. On the weekend, Dyson, Davey and Winderlich were three of our better players, while Stanton and Watson were poor. I dont think its a case of "getting their tail up", we just need a more consistent performance from our midfield across the board, instead of a couple of players stepping up each week.

Our senior midfield, of which Stants and Watson are now a part, by defaultif nothing else, needs to play consistent footy EVERY week....all three of McV, watson and Stants were well below their best last weekend, it simply can't happen.

We need leadership in the midfield. They need to grow some mongrel and demand of themselves a lot more out on the park...
