Wow, I'm not a Saints fan and I'm outraged at this. NOT A TRUE FAN!

Yea, what a knob.

That collision early in the game where he landed on his neck/back; that would've really, really hurt him.

But he worked through it, kept presenting, kept throwing himself into contests and doing everything he possibly could - against numerous Cats and terrible weather conditions.

If you want to blame somebody - Dawson/Clarke/Milne/Schneider were all terrible.

Such a champion, isn't he?

Really delivered on the biggest stage of all. Presented a great option all day. Marked it every time it was laced out directly for him. Clearly was in the zone.

I swear, I'll be blasted again by a bunch of drooling morons whose first conclusion is to deny that I'm a real fan, but at the end of the day, our champion tall didn't do any champion tall bullshit, did he? And we lost.

Because of him.

You'll whinge and cry that I am not a true fan, or know nothing about the game, but when the game was in balance, we searched for Riewoldt again and again, and this was supposed to be his time to deliver. He failed. Again and again.

I was right. And it doesn't make me happy. I was begging to be wrong.

Oh, and don't blame Milne. At least he could find the ball.

Without Riewoldt we wouldnt have even been there ********, so yeh, why dont you **** off on blaming the heart and soul of our club

The saints deserved all the credit they have got this year. They were fantastic.

I admire Riewoldt, this he is an ablosute gun, but i have 1 major critcism in his game, that i think cost you heavily today.

Some call it courageous, i call it stupid.

Twice, he went for over the top diving marks into packs, the first he almost knocked himself out, he was never going to mark it, if injured himself - game over saints! not in the best interests of the team nick.

the second one, spolied his own player and let a spare geelong player to get the ball and they kicked a goal.

Though it looks good on tv, this is very very selfish and i think cost the game today.

But a wonderful player, the saints fans should be very proud of their team, and i'm sure they will be playing finals again next year. They will learn a lot from today's heartache, in those pressure situations.

Nah, sorry mate, truly courageous players don't fall over to win frees and also dog it against players who put it on them (Campbell Brown in last years Prelim, which was embarrassing to say the least).

As soon as I saw the forecast earlier in the week it was going to be bad news for St Kilda. A gameplan that replies heavily on the two big forwards was always going to be tough in those conditions....and having said that the little blokes didn't take their chances....simple as that. I feel gutted for you guys.

Reiwoldt had 3 players hanging off his ballsack the whole game.

Th blame is with our poor kicking.
9.14 is NEVER going to win a grandfinal.
We didn't have anybody in the forward 50 and in the last wuarter lacked motivation in getting the ball back.

It would have against us two years ago :( :(

You guys were the better team, but just missed one too many opportunities. IMHO to blame any one player, and especially your captain, is ludicrous.

I'll join the queue of opposition supporters willing to take him off your hands should you wish ;)

Hey OP I don't agree - Reiwoldt is a champ, but there are plenty of others i would be looking at b4 him if I were you. Flags are won by teams so when one player is down (or outnumbered) others step up. More Geelong players stood up when needed. That was the only difference. Roo can't be expected to play out of his skin every time he runs out there. Th Cats were lucky to win in a way, and we had passengers too.

Piss off mate, no one wants to hear your inane drivel.

You obviously have zero clue when it comes to footy, how sad :thumbsd:

We just won't ever make it![/quote]

Probably seems that way now, but St Kilda should use the bitter taste of defeat and use it next year. There is no reason. outside of luck with injuries, that they should not be playing off next year. And if they do they will be very hard to beat

Perhaps Collingwood cost you the premiership as Geelong had a training run in the second half last week whereas the Saints had a dour struggle against the Dogs. It was in the last quarter that the Cats appeared fresher. Up to that point in the game, the saints looked the best side and the more likely winner.

As for Nick Riewoldt, I thought he was superb throughout the whole final series. With the conditions today it was always going to be a backman's game. Wayne Carey at his peak would have struggled to get a kick.

As a Tigers fan pointed out, he is just too courageous sometimes for his own and the team's good. better to give a contest and ensure you keep your feet. That is being very picky though.

On the whole the Saints were desperately unlucky to lose. Arguably the unluckiest loser in GF history.

Dude, Campbell Brown put it all over your blondey boy last year, seriously,
I thought he was going to start crying when Brown got stuck into him.

Your captain didn't step up that night and he didn't step up today either.
(Sorry, not his fault, the weather beat you).

No point in getting all defensive about it, facts are facts, no matter how you try to rewrite them.

Thought Roo was OK after a couple of good finals performances. The other forwards weren't demanding their opponent's attention and Roo continually brought the ball to ground against multiple opponents. 6 tackles exemplified his effort, and 4 inside 50s showed he worked up the ground when required.

Not quite sure I'm following how he would cop criticism for his game.

Considering Roo had 3 opponents to beat all day and shitty weather limiting his overhead marking abilities, I thought he outperformed other St.Kilda forwards.
Consistently saw Milne not only free for parts of the game but cherry-picking for goals out the back and still couldn't convert.
Im sure Roo would have converted such opportunities, and as others have said without his 'Champion' Qualities, you would arguably have watched a Geelong v Bulldogs Final.

History! Brown couldn't do it this year. So your captain stood up?

Sour grapes from someones who's team didn't make finals.
It's always possible to triple team someone out of play. The failure was finding other scoring options.

nah, that didn't really fail either.

the inability of said other scoring options to actually convert some very easy and gettable chances is what cost you the game.

should have been over at half time.

If you don't want Reiwoldt, we'll take him off your hands... We have few good forwards but I'm sure we can find a spot for him. It won't be any trouble at all.

So you don't deny that YOUR captains actions in last years prelim were embarrassing? Finally a Saints fan who is being honest about the blonde squib.

My captain did OK, but it seems your captain gets a lot more press than mine does even though YOUR captain has a history of diving and crying like a baby when the pressure is on.

Fact. :D

We made the finals dude, went OK as well.

Next year will be better for us.

Will it be for your mob, or will your recycled list get found out again??

You talk about recycled lists? Welsh ring a bell? Aker has been your best player and now you're bringing in an old forward who has lost his mojo and can't stop himself punching opponents. Two of your best three players this year will soon qualify for the pension. Amazes me how Bulldogs fans seem to think they 'deserved' to be in the grand final over the past two years even though they lost to better teams that won many more games during the H&A seasons. Lots of talk from the Bulldogs - but not as much action.

Don't stress dude, we will be there next year and for the record I don't actually feel that we should have made the last 2 grand finals, we weren't good enough tbh. Fact.

I hope your list doesn't have too many injuries like it did this year or was that just a massive excuse that your mob peddled out from about round 5???

Convert is rugby crap, in AFL you either kick it or miss.

He never stood a chance - he was double and at time triple teamed and then throw the wet weather in to the mix and he was never going to be the no.1 goal kicker.

What should be asked is if three were playing on nick then where were the free men. Kosi, Milne and Schneider should of had a field day today and yet failed to show up.

To be fair, Schneider kicked 2.3 I think, so he certainly played his part and if he didn't overcook his shots should have ended with 4-5 to his name. He still had an impact it just wasn't as large as it could have been otherwise due to several factors. Kosi and Milne however did rather fail to make an impact.
