For me, nobody compares to Edberg:

He also has one of the most elegant serves ever. Fun fact - Edberg's trophy pose is the silhouette in the Australian Open logo. Shame his forehand was so ugly otherwise he'd be a lock for the pro with the most attractive game.

Haas's backhand has always really impressed me in the modern game:

Who do you reckon is the best?

The one handed backhand is the only real backhand I reckon. The unimaginative brutes that hit two handers use their other arm more to hit the shot (so IMO it's closer to playing two forehands).

Gasquet's is probably my favourite. Pure elegance. I also used to like James Blake's.

But I think when he's hitting it really well (and it happens less often now) Federer's is the best. When he's smashing backhand winners from half volley's. Here is a backhand masterclass he gave Blake when he was at his peak late in 2006. Poetry.

I think I might start my own two handed forehand appreciation thread (I might be the only one to enjoy it)

Henin is probably my favourite to watch.

If you wanting the best one right now, I would say Gasquet as it has the most potential as far as shotmaking goes.

Bit late but last year I watched a game between Almagro and Dimitrov. One of the best games I have ever seeen, would have been very close had Dimitrov not gotten himself injured.

Second Gasquet. Every time I watch that bloke play I am infuriated. Could have a couple of slams with that backhand, if only there were a bit of grit in with the player. All class.

Best shot in tennis the one handed backhand. Nothing nicer to watch.

Stan's is great as well, and with his size he puts a lot of heat into the shot. Sadly, unless Fed can do it I don't think we'll see a one-hander win another slam in the men's game.

My double handed backhand is my absolute favourite and best shot. I loved Agassi and safins backhands and novak a few years ago was phenomenal and so attacking and aggressive.

But I admire the single handed backhand greatly and its a thing of pure beauty. Gasquet is incredible as was henins. Loved gugas and right now thiem is my favourite player (alongside novak) so i enjoy watching his backhand as well.

Dan Evans, if he still counts.
Not quite sure how I managed to forget the guy I watched only a few hours before typing that.

Still a few coming through, thankfully. Would hate to see it go out of the game. Still one of - if not the most beautiful shots in the game imo.
