Basically an opinion poll of which song people rate as being better.

Metallica's Classic Anti-war song One released in the late eighties

or

U2's highly popular early 90s song One

or ofcourse you could dislike them both.

interesting seeing to very famous and popular songs (U2's is probably more commercially popular as U2 get more radio time then Metallica) having the same name.

I was once going to make a CD where the tracks had the number of the track in the title. I got to Metallica - One, and Two Shoes - Cat Empire, but got tired and gave up

U2's is the greatest song ever written, fullstop.
may I ask why....I can't see much too it. It has the typical U2 whine to it which is why I rarely listen to them

The Johnnie Cash version of the U2 song"One" gives it an emotional resonance the false messiah could ever do

The Metallica one is pretty emotionally hardcore though!

OK, lets take a look a what U2 said:

"The Edge is very pro-Napster, actually," Bono says. "He thinks that as long as people are using their computers for music, and not playing mindless games, that's good. My feeling," he adds, "is that it's cool for people to share our music -- as long as no one is making money from the process. We tell people who come to our concerts that they can tape the shows if they want. I think it's cool that people are so passionate about our music -- especially about this new album, quite honestly."

Now lets see what those Metallicop ********ers think.
"Oh I see we're doing some downloading with that napster machine here. Oh, What have we ********ing hereeeeeeeee? Sanitarium.mp333333333! Napster! I'm going to ********ing slap you silly dickweed!" - Lars Ulrich
"INTERWEB BAD! NAPSTER BAD!" - James Hetfield

That reason alone is enough to make me vote for U2!

It's obvious you are just being a **** not judging the songs on their merits, just trying to take a cheap stab at Metallica for their Napster indescretion, which may I point out had nothing to do with you seeing as Napster isn't available in Australia.

lets not turn this into a discussion about music piracy.

just stick to the music

for all those who like Metallica's one....or want to find further meaning to it, actually watch the movie that it is based on and features clips from called Johnny got his gun. supurb yet very harrowing movie and it gives a whole new meaning to metallica One song. it aint just a song about a dude complaining about steppin on a landmine (actually a grenade if you watch the movie)
