I finally got to look at Utube on my big TV screen and now have much more appreciation for some of the draft potentials:o
No doubt Hurley definately looks great but then again so does the following.
Watts is an obvious early selction, but won't get to us!
I'm now not sure about Naitanui. He could go at 1 or even 10.
The small guys of Zeibell and Hartlett seem to have great ball getting skills, but I'm not sure if they are for us.
The players I now like for the Blues (after the review) are Hurley , Johnstone and McKernan with my preference equal to Hurley & Johnstone. The advantage Hurley has is he already has a big body!!
If we go for midfielders (Zeibell or Hartlett) and Lisle sneaks through to 24 I would definately be happy with him.

Hurley's appetite for the footy is just unreal. His attack on the footy, his willingness to contest, and the fact that he has elite kicking on either leg is why he will be one of the first to get called out in a couple of months. Would love to see him in Navy Blue.

yer Hurley is a gun and supper star my mate knows him well and has played footy agaist him at the cannons reakons he will star .
His skill and the way he reads the play so well is a standout they reakon

GREAT PLAYER, played alongside him with the knights a few times this year and have had a few conversations with him. FREAK ATHELETE. He just excels at all sports.

He's one of a kind, perhaps won't go as high as many expect in the draft as he is a backman, but he's a top class player.

He's also very versatile, can kick a few goals as well if played forward.

He's been touted as a potential CHB or CHF, could he be the answer to our CHF needs? He sounds like a KP sized RO'K :thumbsu:

Then again, having the 3 versatile talls in Waite, Austin & Hurley all capable of playing either CHB or CHF depending on matchups would be amazing!

He sounds like an awesome prospect but as much as we could do with a player such as him, Essendon would also need a key position defender. He could very well be on our radar (if we have, as I hope and presume so, the 6th pick come November) but I think he's going to be drafted by Essendon unfortunately. You could almost say they would do it just to get on our nerves.

A Wish Draft..........

Pick 6 # Micheal Hurley -tall plays back but can play forward PERFECT!!!!

Pick 24 # Aaron Corneliues( if he drops) be great CHF for us or Jordan Lisle could be great.

Pick 40 # Neville Jetta - a small in and under player could be a steal!

Don't forget about bower as well. But Yoss that means Waite could go forward and kick some goals!:D

Bower doesn't play forward though, the other 3 (and Hartlett if he ever comes good) all play both CHB and CHF.

Waite also said he prefers playing back, and we all know that when we have the luxury of playing Waite on a wing we will already be able to sniff #17 :)

The piece of play where he spots a team mate 50m just makes you shake your head in amazement

And on his left.

That was unbelievable. :thumbsu: :)

Essendon don't need him. ;)

I don't know many KPP's in the AFL that can kick as well as Hurley. Ryder does have a nice right foot but doesn't use his left.

I can see it now if we draft him...Carlton fans will be calling him slow ;)

If you guys draft him...well, he's SLOW :D

I posted this (something along the lines) on the Essendon drafting thread:

There's another reason why I want Hurley - so Carlton don't get him. Hurley dominating in Carlton's backline would make me sick

Hurley, Bower and Jamison is some serious KP talent

We'll just say Essendon don't have a midfield and should have gone for Hartlett or Ziebell.

I don't know if we consider our KPP to be as good as Essendon's who have Daniher, Gumbleton, Neagle, Pears and Ryder because we lack key forwards.

We'll be bitching if Essendon add a Naitanui or Hurley to that group.

Even if we don't draft Hurley, I'd play Waite at CHF in a Mooney-type role when we should be challenging for the finals or the top four.

Carlton also has the versatile 19 year old Mark Austin playing good football in the VFL at CHB.

Drafting two forwards like Varcoe and Stokes would round out forwardline nicely if we have Waite, Fevola, Kreuzer (rotating through there like Ottens), Ziebell and Betts in our forwardline.

A better forward setup without Fisher.

Sorry to interrupt the Carlton-Essendon lovefest ... but you must be kidding me.

Daniher and Tayte Pears :o

I am expecting Bower to become more of a cross between Peter Dean and Andrew McKay... a very solid HBF who will run down the wing and deliver into the forward line, then sprint back to defend :)

Hurley is really sounding like he could be the answer to our prayers and if he drops to 6, we will be laughing all the way to the grand final in 2010 :)

Proving my point exactly mate.;)

So you should be. Carlton and Essendon getting along with each other is about as rare as the Montagues and the Capulets getting along with each other in Romeo and Juliet.;)
PS. And the conflicts we have are more violent as well.

i know its unlikely but watts could drop to pick 6. IF-

melbourne- naitanui (for a ruckman)
west coast- rich (no suprise)
fremantle- hartlett (will take no chances on the 'go home' factor to VIC)
port adelaide- vickery/ziebell (they have the westhoff boys)
essendon- ziebell/hurley (they have gumbleton and neagle)
carlton- watts!

its not that crazy is it?
