Exactly.

What's this rubbish about hearing too much about Brisbane's flags? Considering what they achieved we hear very little about it. Voss, Matthews and Lynch are in the media and there's obviously Akermanis (who barely talks about those games anyway), but you hear very little from or about great players like Leppitsch, Michael, Hart, Lappin, Bradshaw, Keating etc.

Yeah, seriously. Do we really need to hear about Brisbane's three flags again?

Great interview. Don't get why there is so much angst towards Mal.

He has won two more flags than your club has won. You may learn a thing or two about what premiership players are about.

Yep, I liked the Mal Michael interview too. Showed the ruthless nature of the Brisbane team at the time.

That scene they showed where Michael was walking off with Chris Johnson, Brad Scott, Martin Pike - four seriously brutal players....sums up why they won three flags.

They are the best AFL/VFL club team I've seen and I've been following the game since the late 1960's. So naturally there's a lot of interest in who these players were and what made them tick.

their defense was great. and around the ground it was all over aggression and skill. defend your end, kick goals at the other. none of the shit we see today where players handball to each other, short kicks sideways, backwards all in the name of "tempo footy". i call it supercoach/dreamteam wankfest.

thought it was pretty good actually.

thought it was interesting he thought that aker got treated poorly. I thought the narrative was everyone at the lions hated him.

I enjoyed it a lot, one of Mikes best in terms of not dragging over one incident and asking questions no one cares about.

Outrageous. I mean three flags instead of four, how do they go on with life?
So because they'd won the flag the year before they shouldn't have been treated fairly?

Rubbish.

Having a joke. Yeah, they were treated unfairly, but they were belted by Port. You can't tell me it made a difference in the grand final result. Please.
Port were at home on Friday night. Brisbane didn't get home until Sunday, having to fly back from interstate. You can't tell me it didn't make a difference.

Let's just ignore that an unjustified absence of salary cap pressure allowed Brisbane to be competitive for 4 years and win 3 in a row. Making 4 and winning 3 was a greater injustice than some unfortunate scheduling in "04.

Let's hope it's not too late for the removal of COLA so that Sydney do not do what Brisbane did. And what of GWS in the next few years?

Forgive me if my heart doesn't bleed for poor Brisbane.

They were better than us in 2001. Get over it.

Where did I say I was bitter about 2001? Perhaps you should respond to what I write rather than what you think I meant.

We should have won back to back in 1999 and 2000, not 2000 and 2001. I do not see 2001 as one that got away.

The fact is that Brisbane should never have been given salary cap concessions that gave them the opportunity, if they were strong, to remain strong. Port were far more deserving in 2004 and Brisbane and Matthews can cry all they want that the bad and mean AFL ruined their chance to win 4 premierships in a row. Let's conveniently ignore that the same bad and mean AFL unfairly and unjustifiably, to the detriment of the national competition, gave them the chance to make 4 grand finals in a row and win 3.

If Sydney win the next 3 flags, to me, they should have an asterisk next to them just as Brisbane 2001-03 should.

I really enjoyed the Mal Michael interview, spoke well, humble.

When asked who his most influential/favourite coach was, I was sure he would say Matthews, so it was surprising to hear him say Malthouse, even though he only coached him for 1 year in 2000.

One of the better Open Mikes. Only a few left for this season.
