There is also momentum etc. we beat Collingwood and were up and about no one is even worried about the dees and GWS is a chance.

As it stands we’re all quietly shitting ourselves about the dees and if we do drop that game (noting we shouldn’t) then we’re ****ing petrified of the next 4 weeks.
You have encapsulated my thoughts here.

Must win by round 1 🤦‍♂️

Maybe that's the difference. I'm not shitting myself about the Dees. In fact I expect us to come out and tear them a new one.....

I think with a relatively young team a lot were overawed last week. Reset and go again. I also think Melbourne have had a new coach bounce in the preseason and are not great, we should really get hold of them. They are not Collingwood who I think a lot of people underestimated - they managed their old blokes really well, and that is who cut us up. Deeper into the season I expect the Pies old blokes to start to fall away.....
That’s fine but we’re all talking about probability and likelihood. We absolutely should win this week, no one is saying otherwise, we’re also the least successful professional sporting club in the world and we dropped an absolutely winnable game last week.

We SHOULD beat the dees but if we don’t… we’re in all sorts

I'm not worried about the Dees game
Then you must be about 6 years old.

No team in the history of professional sport is more likely to shit the bed this week than we are

I won't disagree, "We SHOULD beat the dees but if we don’t" -----but it hasn't been played yet, so lets not predict the end of mankind just yet.....

Did you think we SHOULD beat the Pies last week, or that we COULD beat the Pies last week? I'm not disagreeing on probabilities, but every season a team predicted to be a top 6 lock by every pundit buggers up their season and misses finals, sometime more than one team. Someone predicted to be no chance at all ends up a finalist.....there are a lot of variables and it was 1 game! Let's see what they deliver this week. I'm predicting being off-Broadway and with the nerves behind them we will perform much better......

Michael Richards Yes GIF

POU MIA? he was the leading contested possession getter on the ground at one point. sounds like he had a bad second half. but say he went missing is a bit unfair
He had 6 disposals in the second half. So yeah MIA.

I’m not sure that’s unfair. When the pressure went up he wasn’t there to be counted.

Should and could have.

If we can’t beat them with zero key defenders I don’t think we can beat them period.

I just don’t abide this “oh well, we’ll win next week” attitude. We need to win winnable games and we didn’t.

The dees is more winnable for sure but I don’t like us being in a ****ing danger game in round 1

Uncalled for

But ok

We've done the work. We're at where we're at. If we lose (I think we win) it doesn't have to mean season over. It might just take a bit for us to gel. Hawthorn and GWS are two examples of sides that have recently started seasons poorly only to turn it around and challenge.

All this talk over the off season about recruits and Nas and blah blah blah and then we look rusty and go down by a couple of goals to a team that finished in the top 4 last year and people are carrying on like.... like.... dare I say it..... 6 year olds.

And I don't buy into the no team is history stuff. Now is now. That's all that matters.

Well I said in an earlier post that I don't do tipping any more, but I think we win this week, one of GWS/Brisbane and one of the games in Adelaide. Now you get to say I was wrong when that exactly doesn't happen.

I've been told I'm disingenuous and arguing in bad faith now, which I'm not especially keen to cop. The mere mention of 0-6 is catastrophising, because at its core it is raising the likelihood of a catastrophe. 0-6? The year 2000 was the last time I think we went winless from our last six, even then it included a draw. It's as unlikely as universal Ryan Byrnes love on this forum.

I think I'll continue to say whatever I think is appropriate at the time. I don't abuse, and I don't argue in bad faith.

My entire point is: losing to Collingwood is almost certainly not proof of anything other than Collingwood were better than us on Sunday night. It doesn't mean the kids are no good, it doesn't mean Nas is getting paid too much, it doesn't mean our recruits were a mistake, and it doesn't mean the season is over.

I don't think you arguing in bad faith and I enjoy your posting but we have games that are easier and harder. We lost one of the more winnable matches already so need to win a few not so easy ones to stay in touch.

Brisbane are probably the most gettable they will be all year but I'd think even in Melbourne most would start them strong favourites. I think we've beat Port once in 20 years in SA or something gross.

Adelaide finished top of the ladder and are at home. GWS in Melbourne is a decent opportunity but they look like one of the sides that have hit the ground in top form. A week in footy can change a fair bit though.

Yeh so we lose this week and it’s still fine…

There’s the problem

Love to know his time on ball in second half vs first. Reckon that a lot to do with it.
I don’t know the time split. But…

5 1H Centre bounce attendance.
2 centre bounce clearances.
1 stoppage clearance.

6 2H centre bounce Attendances
0 CB clearance
0 stoppage clearance

Their home game

I generally like his posting too but his line of argument was absolutely bad faith. When it suited it was “well anyone can win on their day” and when it suited it was “we will beat Melbourne as faves” and that’s before the pure strawmans

It's also worth remembering that there's a top 10 this year or a 7-10 bracket where we play a wildcard which is probably where most pundits have us ending up if we go to September. So a better opportunity even if we have a bad start.

Whilst 9 and 10 play in finals. If that’s where we end up, I have some grave concerns we have mightily ****ed up.

We need to be genuinely in finals and dare I say comfortably in the 8.

And the Collingwood loss could help us in the long run.
We get rid of the stage fright early.

That would of course be awesome but what if we end up 9th, win the wildcard game but lose the elimination, but next year we are top four?

These things take time.

We’ve gone from “it’s fine, no big deal” to “losing is a good thing”.

Only at the saints

Thought you might comeback on that one.
And kicking myself now, that l didnt mention, that we should of won though.
But anyway my point is, it was a big game & stage for our club- like a final's game.
And we didnt handle it well.
But if we can scrape into the finals, at least it has introduced us early to the pressure
of what a final will bring.

We have invested bigtime in a lot players we need to be doing better than scraping in

If we are not in that position we should've kept going to the draft
