The orignial was great. I played a fair amount of it.

Super realistic for the time.

Hopefully this is as good but I wouldn't mind seeing some ingame footage.
Ingame footage looks bad imo. Dodgy animations.

I have so much hype for this game, I want a really realistic shooter.

Have to remember that the game is still some time away and there is plenty of time to polish it up....

This will hopefully make the wait for MW2 seem shorter....
Hopefully it makes the shelves before MW2 (sep-nov), you wouldn't want to be a fps released a few months after MW2 cause your sales will be down.
Kerrbs your right that gameplay footage looks like it could do with some more work but there was some good words said about it at E3.

Yeah mate, its due in the 1st 2 weeks of September....

You are right though, no shooters will be coming out after November 10 (if they are smart)

LOVED the original. Played it a lot. Fantastic co-operatively... Sure it had dodgy animations and some bugs, but it was AWESOME fun and great gameplay.

Armed Assualt was just a mess of bugs, so I have high hopes for this.

The best thing about it was the community and modding abilities of the game. In built editor should be part of every PC game, for the community to go nuts with. If they keep honest to the original and just update it, they wont go wrong unless they go over the top with the realism and lose focus on gameplay. No one wants a button to scratch your nuts.

Graphically looks really nice. But a BIG WTF with the walking/jogging/sprinting animations? Worst walking/jogging/sprinting animations ever? Awful doesn't describe it. I can't see me liking this game if you run and jog like that all the time and when sprinting the screen turns into parkinsons disese central and you can barely look at it let alone play. If you have that motion sickness thing with games like some of you guys here do then I can't see you wanting to play it as I was getting motion sickness from watching that and I never get any sort of motion sickness.

speak for yourself

lol, indeed :)

Has anyone been playing ARMA 2? Its very similar to operation flashpoint (made by the original developers Bohemia Interactive), but looks pretty good from an initital play.

Definately some bugs there, and TERRIBLE voice acting, but overall it is fun to play and is pretty hardcore realistic without going over the top and sacrificing gameplay. Demo is 2.5Gb and worth a download as it has a fair bit of content to check out.

Is it only released on pc? there was some talk that it would be released on all consoles but i didn't follow up.

Still 'apparently' coming to PS3 and 360 later this year.

Did I hear correctly? Is it really going to have 220km sq levels?

Not levels, but the actual island it's set on is rumoured to be 220km square

It's open wrold, so you can go anywhere whenever you want and approach the missions in any order that suits you

Multiplayer will just have sections of the island zoned off to keep it manageable

Would wanna hope it has more to do than Far Cry 2.

That game would've been great had it had less open areas and more to do. Juts got boring driving from place to place ALL the time.

Still really dislike the walking/jogging/sprinting animations but the game does look like it will be fun.

Agreed

Only good thing about Far Cry was the map editor

Hoping this is good to keep me entertained before the big one...

For those playing Arma II, is anyone up for a co-op mission?
OP2 looks pretty good. Doesn't look quite as hardcore as arma, but it looks like a top quality game in it's own right. Arma II at the moment is buggy and is pretty hard on the specs, but it's a ****ing incredible game underneath the rough edges. As the patches keep rolling out and the community start cranking out mods/levels this is going to be a hell of a game. If anyone refuses to buy it now because of the state it's in, don't let it drop off you're radar, just buy it in a few months time.

FG, I've been playing it. ARMA 2 is a freaking AWESOME game. Yes there is bugs, yes there is some rough edges, but underneath it is a BEAST of a game. The downloaded community content will keep this game alive for YEARS. I might even have a crack at making a mission as I used to make the odd one for Op Flash.

I could see why it never made it to consoles. Consoles would DIE trying to run something so complex. It really is MADE for the PC where it can be played to its fullest.

Modern Warfare Has A Competitor For “Stupidest Collector’s Edition”

504x_flashhelmet.jpg

Modern Warfare 2’s collector’s edition is ridiculous. It’s Activision testing how stupid you all are. But it’s not alone in the over-the-top military shooter collector’s edition stakes! No, there’s also Operation Flashpoint 2 to consider.

Codemaster’s “sequel” to Bohemia Interactive’s 2001 classic has a limited edition that comes with an army helmet. A full-size army helmet, that looks like it’s made from metal (plus a dog tag), giving the game a box that wouldn’t look out of place in the Rock Band isle. Or a stinky old army disposal store.

No word on price yet, or availability (this is a European version), but hey, on the bright side, unlike the MW2 box, this one will be made available to PC users.

Kotaku AU Note: I’ve asked Codies to confirm availbility in Australia. Will let you know.

Kerrby you should get the helmet, then you can run around in the dark with your helmet and your NVG's pretending to shoot people lol
