Yep,
the fact that Russel didn't win really proves how corrupt those bunch of old dinosaurs really are.

Russel won every lead up award, was leading every poll amonst fans and critics alike but the academy, in all their glory, screwed him for a few reasons.

-His 'run in' with a British producer for shortening his acceptance speech.
- The academy are power happy, and like to prove that they are better judges than other film critics and audiences alike, thus choosing unexpected nominees, proving that they have the power, and not anyone else.
-A bit of political reasons maybe. Although, Denzel was damn good in 'Training Day,' not as good as Russel, but good.
-I had my doubts that the Academy were going to award the main Oscars to non-americans after September 11, and they proved me correct.

His 'run in' with the London producer was the main reason he lost in my view. If it is true, then it really is a shamble for judging him on his off-screen behaviour. That simply is wrong.

But hey, my personal opinion.

I agree with you Nick, but to be honest with you. I couldn't give a fat rats ballbag about the Academy Awards, but I don't think that Russell Crowe will be crying in his beer tonight (he just doesn't seem the king of bloke to really care about that contrived bull****), and I think that Nicole Kidman will feel the same way as well
