It was a good show, not great, just good. Got abit bored of hearing Bono ramble on about "make poverty history" - how naive and ill formed are some of these celebrities

Yes, let's all live in hateful, ignorant, cynical worlds like you where having an ideal doesn't exist. Let's all just expect the worst for everyone.

my parents agreed with this sentiment.

does anyone actually know how much money Bono puts into the charity?

I heard Kanye West was bad? can anyone confirm this for me?

I would have thought moaning about Bono making political statements at a U2gig is on a par with moaning about players handballing at the football. It's what you expect when you buy a ticket.

:D Classic comment. You poor deluded lefty you.

We can keep flooding them with aid. We can wipe all their foreign debt and make them a tangible member of the World Economy. But until they can rid their own systems of corruption and greed they’re not going to improve. Simple as that. How much of a long term difference do you think the Live Aid concerts in the 80's made to Africa - diddly squat.

Bono's hearts in the right place but ultimately it's all huff and puff. It's mostly out of our ( The Wests )hands.

Bono is an enormous Hypocrite.

1. he is domiciled offshore, and pays no tax. which is fine, perfectly legal - but if you don't contribute to society you forfeit the right to comment on social policy
2. U2's concert tour to Brazil this year cost the average monthly pay packet per ticket. he really cares about poor people - not.
3. if some of the smartest people going around the world bank and european bank for reconstruction don't have all the answers, how does some cocky pop star think he does?

Spot on. I was there last night and totally loved the concert. Im a huge U2 fan and was expecting it to be very political. The stage show was amazing and the music, simply awesome. I felt like I got my $130 worth so I really cant understand people whinging about Bono's political statements when thats pretty much what he is all about. Perhaps save your money next time and just buy the CD's instead.

Any political messages were positve. U2 fans that whinge about it being political, obviously don't understand a lot of their songs then.

However awesome concert. Shame about the whingers. (small town syndrome)

:( . I had tickets but I sold them as I needed to study for an exam this morning. I had an exam yesterday afternoon thus meaning I couldn't queue for U2 and study whilst waiting. ********ing exams.

I just really hope they tour again, and this time nothing will stop me.

Deluded? {edit} You don't have a clue what Bono has to say because everything you've said above is what he actually says - that the drop the debt and increase aid program are useless without being tied to ending corruption and improving governance and the use of aid.

But it's easy to criticise if you don't have a clue what you're talking about, isn't it?

Deluded? No, I just bother to read what he says rather than come out with dumb half-ass lines that bear no basis in reality.

I agree people have been donating for years and years and years, why hasnt that turned things around, what make Bono think thing are going to change in the near future or if at all????

From all reports though the U2 concerts have been very good:thumbsu:

I heard mixed reports. Some said it was fantastic. Others said it was a bit boring and wouldnt go and see them again. A bloke at work whos in a U2 cover band was playing at the after party so ill see what he reckons when he comes back to work on monday.

To anybody here that got GA tickets, what time did you line up to get a decent place? Did anyone get into the inner circle?

Going to tomorrow's Melbourne concert, cannot wait!

Thought the article in the paper today was spot on. The crowd was pretty subdued for the supposed biggest band in the world. I thought the show was a little bland, but there were definitely some exhilirating moments and the audience really didn't take the cues. Probably something to do with the demographic of the crowd.
