I was calling if that 3rd dude didn't. I could beat 2, but out of 3, one of them had to have a higher flush draw.
Yeah and fair enough too, once there was 3 other players in for >$100 on the flop, you had to fold. (Well, you didn't have to, but as you said, beating 3 players with your flush draw/top pair would have been tough).

just got back from about 5 hrs at skycity with a mate..it was his first time in a cas, so i just played some 1/2 with him.
ended up a little bit down but should have been more, 3 seperate times i had a fair chunk of my money in with either trips with good kicker and once with a full house, only to see an opponent flip over an identical hand to me all 4 times.. first time thats happend in a single night.
got unlucky when i hit a set of 10s only to double up an opponent who was all in with jacks and hit one on the river.
i hate playing 1/2, and tonight has reminded me why..
my mate said he enjoyed it, so hopefully he will join me at the 2/3 tables next time we go.

Ace high hero calling on the river for 35% of your stack first hand ftw.

My game is not suited to live casino, don't have the balls to rebuy after losig a stack, or raising KQ utg.

that being said usually would not be seeing flops with some of the hands i played on saturday, playing 1/2, thought id mix my play up instead of being the tight player i usually am.

Went into Jupiters again last night to play some $1/$2.

Sat down pretty much straight away and got dealt A:club:K:club: early on and just flat called a $7 raise from the SB.

Flop came down K:diamond:4:heart:4:club:. I checked to check-raise, and another guy bet out $11, :I raised to $30 and he flatted. Turn brought a 9:heart:, so I went all-in for $55 or thereabouts. He tank folded what he told me was K:heart:J:heart:, which I find hard to believe.

Didn't really have many big hands, built up my stack to about $250 with a lot of small pots/some well timed bluffs, and then an interesting hand came up.

I have 6:heart:7:heart: and call a raise from LP, flop comes down 6:club:8:club:6:diamond:. I check, there's a bet of $20 and 3 callers, I decide to throw in a raise, and make it $80 to go (just hoping to get the pot that was there, since whilst my hand was strong, it was a bit vulnerable. Another guy goes all-in for about $25 more, I call and he has 5/6. Turn is a 4 and river is a 9 so we chop it up. How else could I have played this? Was my raise a little too big? (usually I just min-raise or thereabouts, but with the amount of money that was already in the pot I was happy to take it down there).

Ended up leaving after 5 hours with a net profit of ~$250.

That last hand isn't going to play out any differently.

I'll be heading off for Adelaide on Thursday, playing at least one ANZPT event as well as cash games whenever I can.

Went back to Jupiters last night. Bought in for $200 at $1/$2, was down about $140 with half an hour left until I was going to leave, but ended up breaking about even.

Played a fair few flops, missed them all completely. Whenever I had high cards the flop was rags, whenever I had a mid pocket pair the flop was AQK or something like that.

Made a good lay-down with 10:heart:7:heart: on a J/10/7 rainbow flop in an un-raised pot. Guy in EP bet $10, I min-raised to $20 and the button re-raised to $85. I tank-folded and showed my hand. He showed J/10.

Then I tripled up with K:spade:J:spade: on a J/4/2 flop with 2 clubs against 2 flush draws, which broke me back to about even.

went into skycity on saturday with 2 mates..was rather busy as they had some APL tournament just prior to table games opening..bit of a wait to get on..sat down and there seemed to be a group of 4-5 mates playing on the table who seemed to have no clue..won some easy pots off them, cause of there stupidty..and they all left within the hour.

then for the next 4 hrs i seen the worst poker ive ever seen played by one individual..calling with any 2 cards it seemed pre flop..dont think i saw a picture card in his first 7-8 pot wins..most of the time holding 2 rags, and hitting 2 pair etc, or low straights.

most the table were questioning his betting and hes simple reply..just feeling lucky.. really not a fan of people who come from other games when they win a little and decide to have a crack of poker with not much clue on things.

late in the night i was involved in 2 pots with him and another player..we checked it down to the river both times, as i hadnt hit..and knowing my luck he would have.. then on the river he would lead out with a an almost pot size bet..both times i folded thinking he had nothing or either had hit something rediculous..both times he flipped over absoloute crap, to see the other guy in the pot with mid range pocket pair and winning the pot..
if i called both times, it would have been an extra 150ish chips up due to the value of the sidepots.

ended up about 150 up in an up and down night.
sorry for the lack of exact hand descriptions, but my memory is shot with stuff like that :p

EDIT: just realised i posted this in the wrong thread

Don't you like money?
should have continued the sentence a little bit more..my bad. and catch anything thinking they are having a lucky night..then as soon as they get up a little bit..just leave before anyone can get there chips back..however this guy stayed and was still playing when i left
not sure about other peoples experiences but i seem to come across a few a night who have come from other games and as soon as they get up a little are happy to leave...why play poker if you only want to play for an hr if that

If that's what they want to do, I don't have a problem with it. They are just as (or more) likely to play for an hour and lose money. Next time they come they might play poker first.

Anyone who dosent like the concept of really bad players playing with them really needs to study the concept of a zero sum equity game. Its such a simple concept, but so few people understand it... Its not frustrating losing to these fish, its frustrating losing full stop, so "taking it out" on the fish is kind of bad.

Complaining about playing only an hour with these guys is like complaing of only getting 10 minutes of sexy fun time with a supermodel compared to a full night... Its better then most get, so enjoy it...

Check this for a stupid rule. At SkyCity Adelaide, on two separate occasions, I saw a river dealt before a player had called the turn bet. The first time, a floor person was called over and the dealer added the burn card to the stub (the cards still in the dealer's hands). I commented to the floor girl that the burn card was never going to be the river card so should remain as the burn card. The prematurely-dealt river card should still be able to be the new river card and thus should be reshuffled in.

As if that wasn't bad enough, the floor girl said that their official rule was that not only should the 3rd burn card be shuffled back in, but that the entire muck should be shuffled back in! So for example, a card that someone folded pre-flop, or even worse, a card that someone folded on the turn, could become the new river  WTF?

The girl said she never told dealers to reshuffle the muck back in. However, on another table, I saw a different floor person go over and the dealer did reshuffle the muck back in. How ludicrous! To be honest, I don't know how Crown Casino deals with this. I can only recall such a situation happening on the flop, that is, the turn was dealt prematurely.

Working for APL on their ring games I have never heard anyone believe that the muck should be mixed in with the stub to determine the "new" river card, and we leave as many cards as possible that could never be the river, such as the third burn, out as well...

Only once have I ever seen an issue with the muck pile, where some bozo in a home game prematurely dealt the river, and then put the rest of the stub in the muck. We just shuffled up the lot and dealt a river, I was upset as I would have hit my set on the river, but it was the 6c that I had previously folded...

If anyone wants to make extremely easy money playing poker, spend the money to fly to the Gold Coast and play at Jupiters.

The standard of play is staggeringly bad.

Sitting down at $1/$2, I look down at QJ and it's limped pre (I think there's 7 runners), the flop comes down Q27, checks around, turn comes down J, some guy bets $20, two callers, I shove for my remaining $66, first guy who bet calls $46 more and the other two fold.

The river is an 8, I flip my hand over, he shows A/9o...

Easy moniezzzz. If you want to win, get up here and play.

Re: Australian (and NZ) Casino discussion (except for Crown Casino)

Well, it's always good when you turn the 2nd nut flush and then get it all-in on the river in a ~$300 pot and lose to the nut flush....

Re: Australian (and NZ) Casino discussion (except for Crown Casino)

Getting AA is always nice, then actually winning a big pot with it is quite good.

I'm in the SB, FC in the BB, UTG limps, UTG +1 limps, guy in EP limps, girl next to act makes it $13, it folds around to me in the SB and I make it $41 to go, BB folds, folds around to the original raiser who calls.

Flop comes down K/6/8, I lead out for $26, she calls.

Turn comes 7.

I lead out for $20, she calls.

River comes 6.

I check, she shoves and I tank call, she flips over K/10hh. Ship it.

Thats rather terrible that hand... from the flop onwards. The pot is about 100 preflop. You bet 1/4 of the pot on the flop, which is a little bit small IMO but ok. The turn bet is what is horrific. The pot is now around 150, and you bet 1/7 pot or so. Its redonkulously small, and almost pricing in hands that are just gutshots... Im curious how much the river shove was, and why it was a such a tank call... Her hand is weighted much more toward a king rather then anything else, she shouldnt have that many 6's in her range to raise/call pre. You even beat hands such as K8/K7 now, so its a snap call, though your money should have been in on the turn depending on stack sizes...
