Hey, I've got a great idea!
How about each team plays the other once, then have an 18 team finals series stretching over 10 weeks? :D
No more ridiculous than having a wildcard round.

I like it. No point just dipping your toes into the water. Let's show the Americans how it's done.

Who says no?

I can’t wait for Barry Round. Everyone dresses up as Barry with premiership points decided by best likeness to Barry with hair carrying significant weight to the judge’s decision

I’m surprised nobody has suggested “fart arsing round” yet?

Surely that one would be universally popular? That’s if anybody would get around to actually organising it.

As in Day/Night or something different?
For many years the Argus system had a final four where in week 1, minor premier played 3 and 2 played 4(ie. second copped an easier game). Winners into what was variously called the Final or the Preliminary Final. If minor premier won through and then that, they won the flag, but if they lost, the game was replayed as the Grand Final.

It meant that the minor premier only had to win twice to win the flag and had a double chance, but every other team had to win three times.

Fart arsing round and piss farting round are on Dils agenda next. Along with “You Spin Me Right Round” and the round window from Play School surprisingly

The only thing that I am absolutely married to in terms of rules is that after a goal is scored the game restarts in the middle of the field with a 50/50 contest. No other sport in the world has this feature. It must be maintained at all costs.
Ice Hockey has exactly the same feature called face-off.

Bahahahaha.

The AFL has several responsibilities, including the growth of the game and financial stability. On some of these fronts they do very well indeed.

But any pretence of them caring about stewardship and integrity has gone out the window under Dillon (and it was only a thin veneer of bulldust presented as meeting these obligations under previous admins). Continually compromised drafts, a game now financially intertwined with ethically bankrupt gambling corporations, rules that shift faster than the sands of the Sahara, fixtures based solely on revenue and so on. And now we have an 18 team competition with a final 10.

Great.

Oh well, enjoy your new sport. Which one do you think you will pick?

Thanks for clarifying. I had the thought that once upon a time if you finished top ladder end of the season you were just named Premiers aka Minor Premiership. No playing finals or GF.

I reckon the wildcard is a great thing to fill the abyss of that pre-finals bye
Not for the team that has played a whole season to earn the right to finish 7th.

This one smells.

Not everything is American.
Have you heard of the January transfer window for ⚽️ leagues under EUFA?
Yep.
Too fluid for me.
Don’t want to follow a side that has five changes mid stream.
Like I said, will accept 1 trade, beyond this won’t be impressed.
Irrespective whether it’s American, European or Biddleonion, I cherish our structure.
Eg trading in 3 hacks from Carlton mid season doesn’t please me one iota.
