If Firrito and Thompson get suspended our backline stocks will be non existent against the Crows next week especially with Grima, Tippett, McMillan and Delaney all on the injured list.

Surely Ayden Kennedy will make his debut this week:rolleyes:

I doubt Firrito will go, but I think Thompson will get a week.

That leaves Spud, Hansen and ?? to take on Pods, Jenkins and Walker. Let's just hope it pours down!

Would be surprised to lose Spud - Scooter not so much, that was dumb and he hit him in the head. There is a perfect photo of it on one of the news websites. Even if Riewoldt does have a punchable head, and even if he played it up, it was probably still high and hard enough with Thompson's record.

If we still have one of those two, then even if Grima doesn't get up we still have (with Hansen) two experienced tall defenders. If Grima is right to play it doesn't look too bad. Guess McMahon would be the obvious inclusion if we need a back six replacement.

Scooter's incident is probably similar (sort of) to the Josh Gibson one against Richmond this year. Gibson's attracted 125 points but was eligible for a reprimand due to no carry over points/loading. Don't think Thompson is in the same position having already been suspended this year.

What they might decide, though, is that the path of Thompson's fist was in line to where the ball was taken, then Riewoldt subsequently lowered the ball and this caused Thompson's fist to come in contact with his head. If this argument is successful, the incident will be deemed to be accidental/incidental and no charge will be layed.

So it all hinges on whether the MRP (and subsequently the tribunal if it gets that far) genuinely believed Thompson was trying to hit the ball and once the ball was taken away that he could not avoid contact.

We'll be decimated if the MRP gets holds of us. Loose will be a walk-up start. I wouldn't be in favour of bringing Taz straight back in, especially in Adelaide...but he has played back and we may just need another big body down there. Nervous wait for MRP review, altho surely Spud can't go... Couldn't imagine us going into a game without Grima, Thompson, Firrito, Tippett, McMillan and Delaney.

in this day and age i have no idea if a player is gona miss or play anymore.. the MRP is the biggest circus in the AFL.... followed closely by the umpiring department making "rules of the night"

Agreed.

For those wondering, Thompson has five carryover points from a suspension this year, and Firrito has none.

Gut feel is that Thompson should be cleared via insufficient force/going for the ball (and to be fair to Riewoldt, he didn't ham it up), whereas Firrito's report is laughable.

But who knows.

I'm probably biased but I commented to those around me at the time of the Thompson "incident" that it was within the marking contest, and he looked to me as though he "pulled" his spoil as an (important) afterthought - which was why there was no force at all in the contact.

Having said that, confidence in the MRP where North is concerned is usually not at a high level, and I'm not confident they would view it as I did!

Throw a dart at a dartboard. Take that number and times it by 97,453. Divide that by the speed of light, add on your year of birth and subtract the life expectancy of a walrus and that will give you your answer to what the MRP will do.
7 weeks :eek:!!!

This is the worst possible result ...

Thompson = Reckless + Low Impact + Head = 125 pts + 5 pt previous = 130 pts

If he accepts = Reprimand + 97.5 pts to future record

Firrito = Intentional + Low Impact + Body = 125 pts

If he accepts = Reprimand + 93.75 pts to future record

Firrito might have a good record as well that further reduces it. Thompson won't get any loading - that only applies for prior suspensions worth 3+ weeks.

I hope you lot watched the freo vs Crows game yesterday. Crows had 3 talls in Tex, J-pod and Jenkins. Only jenkins kicked a goal and that was in the 4th. Freo had 3 tall defenders in Dawson, McPharlin and Johnson. Johnson was subbed out at 3 quarter time. Freo dominated in the Midfield and with our scoring shots, we should of won by 60-70 points had we been mor accurate instead of a 40 point win. If your team can have that quarter like the 3rd quarter of the richmond game, the crows will be killed off. Melbourne has beaten them.

Your team needs your best defender against Tex.
