Our first match

I didn't realise our first match in 1987 was so dramatic.

I'm 24, so I can't remember the details, but I've been doing some homework.

It's the only time we've been down by 30 points or more at 3/4 time and won the match.

I'm sure some older supporters will remember and be like "no sh*t", but for a younger supporter it makes for some interesting trivia.

I'd be interested to hear recollections from people who watched the game. Best players, goalkickers etc. How the f*ck did we win from 33 points down at 3/4 time?

Richmond won the toss and took first advantage of an unseasonal easterly breeze. The first quarter was an even affair with Richmond then using the breeze to establish, what many thought would be, a match winning break. Richmond led by thirty three points at the start of the last quarter.

In a barnstorming finish the Eagles, led by Captain Ross Glendinning, scored 9.4 to Richmonds 1.5 to produce a fourteen point victory.

ahhhh remember it like it was yesterday.... I was 15... I remember it because Wally Matera got B.O.G in the first ever Eagles match.

Dont remmember much of the day, Was on the hill with my mates drinking beer but at the time just loved the whole occassion.

Seeing a team representing WA in the AFL instead of watching ex star Wafl players from WA on the Winners was great

I have seen the last quarter on fox footy not that long ago

A bunch of skinny kids running aroud. Was a great comeback but not the best game i have ever seen

the game i can rember is a geelong game at kardinya park, i am sure we were down by forty at some stage , in the last quarter laurie keene took over in the ruck and langdon came to life and we won
