Simmo made a good point in the Freo game last week about how Collingwood's first instinct in the D50 is to always handball before kicking, whereas ours is to just get it out of there as quick as possible. Wish we'd take a leaf out of their book. It can be risky at times but usually the worst result is you give it to someone under pressure and they get tackled = ball up.Daicos at 10? Kinda shows you the efficiency stats are bullshit.
If an in-and-under midfielder gets plenty of ball, but is always releasing it under pressure... it stands to reason they'll miss targets more regularly.
That said, apparently a kick to a 50/50 contest is sufficient to be considered "efficient"... so there's probably a few players with stats that flatter them. I'm getting sick and tired of Duggan constantly doing a dump kick from deep inside the defensive 50 the moment he gets the ball. Given our lack of contest, it almost always comes back immediately with interest. But because it's going to a 50/50 contest, or even open space, it's probably considered "efficient".
To be fair, that's almost certainly a team strategy that he's been directed to do. But it just doesn't feel sustainable. We need some small/mid backmen that are poised in getting the ball out of defence. What we wouldn't do for a Lewis Jetta these days.

I think they need to do a stat "worst kicks under 20 metres" We miss some bad short passes.

My man, top of the list.

A tad fatalistic...anything could happen between now and round 23/4Reckon this will be it ....if we can't win this one might as well turn off the tv for the rest of the year
Gee, you're glutton for punishment Westy.Reckon this will be it ....if we can't win this one might as well turn off the tv for the rest of the year
Miss-hit midget mofo has deformed ears.

We're just not good enough to expect a win against anyone.
You can think we're a chance, but that's about it.
