Topic might have been done but my miniscule amount of research couldn't find the thread so let's resurrect this topic here.

Who will be our captain post-Judd?

Will he retire as captain or hand over his captaincy before then?

IMO I think he'll hand over the reigns to Murphy (assuming he stays) in the next couple of years. Gibbs was touted as the next captain but I think Murph has more leadership qualities and on-field presence.

For mine the current pecking order would be:

Simpson
Carazzo
Jamison*
Russell
Murphy

Think Judd will out last the first couple as they are the same age. .. So Jamison would be more likely at this stage. .. Murphy is a chance though. ..

If he keeps on improving and been invaluable to our best 22, Duigan could be a dark horse for leadership group at the very least. .. Just speaks so well and has great courage and determination. ..

Providing GWS keep their grubby hands off him, I'd love to see Marc Murphy leading the club with Michael Jamison and Kade Simpson as co-vice captains.

I love him, but at this stage, I'd hate to see Gibbs leading the club. He looks like a follower out on the field and whilst I have no problem with this, that is not the attitude required for a captain. Murphy, Jamison and Simpson very rarely fail to lead by example.

Jamison...
Easily looks the best on field leader behind CJ.
+ By the time Judd steps down, Jamo will be primed to take it off his hands.

Why is this???

Interested to hear your logic behind this statement.

Just because to me a captain needs to be able to physically impose himself on the contest whether it be a ferocious attack on the ball or player or both. To me, as brilliant a footballer as he is Murph does not tick these boxes. That's just one persons opinion though.:)

Don't agree and Murph is the leading tackler at the club and gets a heap of contested possessions and would be only second to Juddy i would think. Imposes himself with attack on the ball every week and has been instrumental to our good start to the season.

Would make a fine captain in my eyes but each to their own.

Murphy would be the best choice IMHO (although Simmo has proven he do the job well and should be in considerations). This would release Judd to play un-pressured football in his last few years and who knows what he'd be capable of without the added Captaincy expectations. On the other hand, I think Murph might just take his game to the next level given the opportunity.

What I'm hoping is that it the Captaincy is being taken into contract negotiations with Murph, and that he wants the job bad (along with a nice pay packet) enough to stay.

I have no doubt that GWS would dangle the 'Captain' carrot in front of him.

It would definately come down to Jamo or Murph. I think Murph should get the job? wont jamo be like 30 in 3 years when assuming judd will step down?

Jamo or Murphy, it's an easy decision to narrow it down to those 2, but it's very hard to choose between them.

I'd make 1 captain and the other vice captain

Jammo is 25 in June.

(Judd will be around for another 7-8 years :p)

Realistically, Jamison is probably the real leader in terms of speeches and what not (assumption), Judd is the on field leader (These are all assumptions)
