2001----Ricmond ---PASS

2002----Richmond----PASS

2003----Richmond ----- PASS, could have Craig Bolton (sydney) or Brent Moloney

Miller Arrives

2004---Richmond--- Ben Marsh and Luke Weller.---->.probably should have passed)

Wallace arrives

2005-----Richnond-- Trent Knobel

2006----- Richmond ----Mathew White

2007---Richmond ----Kent Kingsley

Preseason draft are by no means an inspired way to draft players, but in the seven years before Wallace turned up we drafted 3 players we have since drafted 3, and in the time before Miller arrived we drafted 1.

Big deal you might say. Well the reasons why this was the case is more important and effected our list totally

a) we couldn't afford to fit anyone under our salary cap which was evident because of
b) the fact we played seasons with reduced lists.

Ok came trade time we sure was able to play hard ball and flex our muscle when other sides new this. Our administration 1996 to 2003 over paid our players considerably leading to these problems. The huge contracts to players after one good season where a standard at Richmond back then.We all know this but a lot on here are forgeting quickly.

Now we have our list in order, it's getting rebuilt from the ground up, we can now particpate in the PSD, have a full list including rookies.

Just think what our defence would be like with Bolton and the added grunt Moloney could have given us in the midfield... Hypothetical of course.

A lot is hypothetically. Its so easy to see faults from the past. Try and predict the future. Some did it for this years fixture and werent even close (me included).

I mainly pointing out how shyte the club was before TW turned up. We couldn't even participate in the PSD etc...... That fact is if you go through the PSD there are very few success stories, except the high priced recruits and the odd gamble with youngsters.

...so I'm just pointing out that the Club is slowly getting a lot healthier since TW has turned up and the above is an example.

Personally I think a bigger inictment is that we rarely used out rookie list effectively. We could have easily parked a few raw ruckmen in there and seen how they went. But we tended to populate it with short people (ok Foley has been good) or just not use it at all.

PSD is really just swapping duds for duds unless you finish last and can convince a star to nominate.

We gave up our number 2 pick for johnson, how silly was that?.

Yep you are right. Sorry

PSD is like a plate of leftovers. Nobody wants it.
Unless a gun uncontracted player falls through (and how many of them have there been?) all that's left are the dregs.
I'd be more concerned with our national draft selections and rookie draft picks.

Miller did everything he could to get Bolton. But Bolton made it clear that he didn't want to come to Richmond.

It is too early to call if White has been a good selection or not. But other than that the best selection Richmond has made in the PSD is PASS.

at the end of the day bolton didnt have a say in it. we only had to meet his pay demands.we could take who ever we wanted with pick 2 simple fact is miller didnt rate him enough or moloney for that matter.

Miller rated him very highly.
Bolton wanted to go to Sydney. He reportedly put an $80,000 price on himself so that we couldn't fit him in our salary cap and he would get to where he wanted.
