It seems there are a few cobwebs in the brains of our team from management to players to clear, and fast.
For instance, we all know we had a very poor list in 2005. However, as far as D.Pagan went some of the tactical moves and on field placements were puzzling a number of times. I just feel that Denis is a bit like Sheeds now, in that they have both lost that fire in the belly needed to be a hungry coach (a la Roos). Maybe the older coaches have seen it all and done it all and are far more interested in their race horses now to bother.
With a changed list (hopefully) for 2006 and some new talent coming in (hopefully) Denis can at last show us what he is made of as far as the Blues go.
As for players, guys like Walker do not seem to have enough endeavour and heart to really try week in, week out.
With Andrew Walker, the kid had very big wraps, but has not shown enough to have warranted them. Lets hope in 2006 he finally shows us consistency and leadership qualities, even at his youngish age.
Talking of leaders, Kouta to me has always been the shy quiet type, a great player, but too shy to be a real fire and brimstone leader which is what we need to put a fire under some underachievers (Whitnall/Houlhan).
The mindset needs to change, from all levels.
Lets hope for we fans sake that the new season, and new players with skill, can bring about an overhaul desperately needed in the thinking at the club, time to re-introduce that winning feeling.
