Why doesn't Smart report to the SENIOR COACH?

Why should he? what other Recruiting Manager reports to the Senior Coach?

From an outsides perspective - I may be way off the mark - this is the areas I believe Freo need to address:

1. Smart (or not so Smart) - why is this guy still at your club making trade and recruiting decisions. Any half backed moron realises this guy is useless - but after many years of trying he is still there. Freo are the joke of AFL in regards to PAST trades and recruiting (if you think your not then your kidding yourself) and the biggest contributor to this poor record is Mr Smart...Get him out- he had his chance and failed.


He like all the other Recruiting Managers has made mistakes and that includes your Mr Wells (Pavlich could've and probably should've been at your Club not to mention Hasleby), at least some of Smart's early mistakes can be directly attributed to another source namely Neesham. Smart's failures are no different than the other RM's failures they tend to over complicate what is a relatively simple process by placing too much emphasis on what a young players negatives are rather than his positives.

I find it wierd how he is reporting to the CEO and not the coaching staff. The coaching staff are the ones implementing the game plans on the field.

He reports to the Football Manager or Manager of Football Operations which is the current yuppie term for the position. That is the case with most if not all of the AFL Clubs.
