There a bucket load of these threads around but I'm interested in everyone's opinions on their top 5 most most overrated players.
NOTE: This does NOT necessarily mean that you think they are bad but more than you think they recieve much unwarranted praise from media and supporters. Here are mine
1. Bate
For some reason he is seen as a barometer for the melbourne team but he is horrible below his knees ('fumble fingers') and has the turning circle of a double decker bus
2. Ablett
Elusive player as we all know and never goes to ground but gets a lot of cheap 'one 2's' and is far too handball happy. for my liking. One of the only players that will have 40 touches(albeit 30 handballs) and not have any influence on the game.
3. Pendlebury
Similar to Ablett in that he gets a lot of uncontested possessions deep in defence and the half back line. he is a great kick no question but Dale Thomas can break a game open to the degree that Pendles could only dream of and I believe he is the far better and dangerous of the pies young duo.
4. Cotchin
He has all the tools to be a great player but for some reason I believe this potential tag has been going for a bit too long. Form/Injury continue to affect the young tiger and his averages (stats wise) are very very unflattering for someone who has carried hype for so long.
5. Sam Gilbert
Has no right foot and it does cost his team. He also gets caught for holding the ball a lot and can give away too many careless free kicks.
