Newcastle 0 - 1 Blackburn Rovers
Wolves 3 - 1 Leeds
Massives 2 - 2 Liverpool
Spurs 0 - 1 Charlton
Everton 1 - 0 Birmingham
Bolton 2 - 2 Leicester
Aston Villa 3 - 0 Fulham
Boro 0 - 1 Manchester United
Chelsea 3 - 0 Portsmouth

A few surprise results with Rovers winning at Newcastle and Wolves wasting Leeds. Very relieved that United took the 3 points against Boro.

Spurs loss against Charlton sends Spurs into one of the relegation spots and Charlton into 4th spot.

From what I've read, we were Lucky to get a point against the Massives.... But it took Fowler until the last minute to finally find the Net :(

I'll take the point anyways

And well done to the Wolves ...... Not sure they'll break the Xmas Hoodoo but they will go down fighting :)

Game of two halves, we dominated the first and could have won the game in the first 45 minutes.

Liverpool were clearly the better side in the second, but I think it had more to do with the drop in our intensity than anything (I was calling Liverpools equaliser from the 46th minute, we just didn't look the same team after the break).

In all, I am disappointed at getting 1 point from a game I thought was there for the taking, but also relieved and pleased that we got something out of a game that I expected to lose after Haman's (very well taken) goal. Kewell hit the post, and Liverpool had another couple of chances to score so I'll certainly take the point at this stage.

Awesome, another win at what is becoming fortress villa park! Juan Pablo Angel scored and has now scored 6 goals in his last 7 games and Vassell finally got on the scoresheet with 2. Only took him half the season
With our away form seemingly improving and being in the CC Semi-Final looks like things are on the up! We are even in the top 10 for probably the first time this year!
...and all we have to do now is beat that small man u club in the fa cup :p

UP THE VILLA!

What about the period he was injured and not playing?

It is his 16th league appearance this season.

It wasn't for that long in any case, maybe a week or 2.

On Villa, well we just keep on getting points and slowly we are moving away from the bottom 3 and quickly closing the gap on City, who seem to have hit a bad patch of late.

Smicer 2 in 2 games, what is happening! Is Ostemebor injured? I notice he went off after 28 minutes.

I guess we will take the point, with Newcastle losing we have moved to 6th and somehow, despite doing nothing all year, can still claim a Champions League spot.

But surely the big news is Spurs heading to the relegation zone - crisis time.

And how high can Charlton finish?

Didnt look crocked to me but a 28th minute sub did look a bit suspicious. He got skinned a few times early in the match, and the Liverpool defence was under siege, so maybe the experience of Henchoz was needed.

Has there been any word of the bustup between Houllier and Thompson at the end of the game, looking at the highlights bignose was over at the sideline and Houllier screamed at him to get back in the dugout. Looked like a schoolboy that had just been told off by the headmaster, he was certainly moving quickly back to the safety of the dugout.

I was listening to live commentry on the official Liverpool site and the commentator was claiming Harry Kewell and Phil Thompson had a little bit of a verbal disagreement of some sort. Cant remember at which period of the game it was at. But i havent found any reports of it yet.

Yes i think the Otsemobor substitution was tactical. And i was hearing Riise was getting eaten alive in the first half too by Wright-Phillips

Not if Laurent Robert has anything to do with it. Personally thought his two against Spurs were better.

Was that the 35-yarder by the Ginola lookeylikey?

Immensely frustrating! We went there with a negative attitude and got what we deserved. Why Steve Bruce played Stern John I'll never know, he has been woeful all season. Jovan Kirovski was surely a better option. We really got suckered in the second half when SB sent on Cisse in the hope of playing for a draw. They scored (poor goal to give away as well) and then we were screwed because we were in a defensive formation for 10 mins before Kirovski came on. Far too late to do anything. I think we managed 3 shots on goal all game, Forssell needs some assistance badly, and with Dugarry looking to be out for a fair while we need to get some strikers in the transfer window. Hartson & Larsson are apparently who we're after, not convinced about Hartson (never have been) but Larsson could well be what we need. At the end of the day though all it shows to me was that selling Geoff Horsfield was a huge mistake, even more so now he's with the Baggies.

32 (20/09/71) and has never been tested in a 'real' league?

I know he's getting on and he's not played in the bigger European leagues but someone smallish, with loads of skill, a bit of pace and a nose for goal to play off Forssell would be ideal at the moment. Neither Morrison or John fit the bill. Dugarry works with Forssell because of his skill more than anything. Larsson has got skill in bucketloads so I see him as being a good option to play along Forssell. However I think the chances of us getting him from Celtic before the end of the season are slim.

International football is a good enough test for me, and he has done well there. 32 is nothing, and he has a couple of good years ahead of him IMO.

Papers today say that Newcastle are also interested, whether it be at the end of the season on a free, or in Jan on the cheap.

The papers have linked us with just about everyone in recent times. We're also supposed to be signing Kluivert, Hedman, Carr, Ball, Carrick, Defoe, Dawson, Rivaldo, Butt, Kezman, Delaney and Burke... the list goes on.

After all the recent near misses involving Kleberson and Emerton I'm inclined to wait until I see at least one of them in our kit before believing it ;)
