I've only encountered one Asian-run Subway and it was by far the worst I've had. Generally avoid any franchise food places in the Brisbane CBD.

I love the fact that all the fast food joints put up kJ counts for their meals now.

The regular 'Five Stars Box' from KFC (intended for one) is like 6,000 kJ with Pepsi Max.

The recommended daily intake is 8,700 kJ for an adult male (varies with size, level of fitness etc.). I reckon I probably eat 8-10,000 each day as a 28 year old (active but not running marathons) male but it wouldn't surprise me if people smaller, younger, less active etc. were eating a hell of a lot more. Whether you're a house or otherwise that can't be good.

That box would be on top of the 6-8k KJ that was consumed during brekky/lunch. Don't forget the snack on the way home too!

I see maccas/KFC all with long lines in the late arvo rush home from work and it's mainly office people getting a snack for the ride home.

That's the secret. The food doesn't have to be any good, the service doesn't have to be any good, in fact none of it does.
Drive through convenience, 24 hour convenience, quick convenience and it's pretty much cheaper than anything else you don't make yourself.

100% of the times I get Maccas are after 12am, when there's nothing in the house (I generally don't shop too far ahead)or when I can't be arsed cooking and I'm hungry and want something quickly and easily.

I yearn for the day when a place is open 24h, has drive through, has good food and is near me.

Do you think most of these people skip dinner? Most of what they buy are snacks or small meal deals or nuggets from my observation of them eating it on the platform whilst waiting for the train.

No idea, but same thing really. Quick, convenient and cheap (what's a cheeseburger? 2 bucks?).

Jelly beans, and not just the black variety. Seems everyone enjoys the grainy little things except me.

Hmm, fair enough. But they are useful for endurance athletes. Whenever i've been in a marathon, jelly beans are like little balls of energy, especially late in the race and post-race.

Yeah I know but some people just love to scream 'racist'.

The local bakery in my town has always been run by a Chinese family and that's actually very good, reasonably priced too.

Same here. The local bakery (which was always awesome) was taken over by a chinese family and somehow become even more amazing.

I think it's more of an urban than a racism thing honestly. Those teeny little franchise shops in shopping malls and CBD streets are usually crap, and being urban tend to more likely be run by indians, etc.

But out in regional centres and rural areas, I dont think race is really a factor. It's more of a city thing imo.

If given the choice I'd prefer to eat land animals. Seafood just doesn't do it for me taste wise.

I'd prefer seafood over vegetarian though.

This is basically me. I gave up land animals, but I cant completely give up animal-based meat and be a total vegetarian. So I eat a lot of seafood, which is generally outstanding although I never found crab all that appealing.

Unless you have a big meal, generally Maccas etc. isn't filling so you can easily eat a third of your daily energy intake (ie the equivalent of one of your 3 square meals) as a snack without even knowing it.

I could easily eat a simple McDonalds meal (cheeseburger, fries, coke) as an afternoon snack then eat dinner an hour or so later. My body would probably hate me for doing so, mind you.

One near my tafe i think is indian owned and it's not much better, although in general Subway is mediocre at best, the Maccas there is staffed by more or less all Indians too and even by maccas standards it can be pretty bad, somehow greasier and less presentable than usual, couple of times gotten uncooked fries in a batch as well.

The bit about Asians seems to hold fairly true, they do bakeries really well and obviously the "westernised" asian food isn't too bad. But man they absolutely wreck fish and chip shops most of the time, used to be a few awesome ones around me, got bought out one by one and went downhill fast, portion sizes dropped, old deals went, stopped doing substitutions.

I've learnt through this thread that there probably isn't one person on the planet who isn't a fussy eater.

Also, fast food joints are hardly overrated, their food isn't meant to be 5 star quality. It is meant to be cheap and quick to produce and eat. I'll only go after a big night out, or I can't be ****ed cooking dinner if no one else is home.

Teens can have a lot more though due their metabolism being high. Teen males can eat loads. They have to be careful they adjust as they get older though or it catches up with them.

KFC chips consistently disappoint, maybe 1/10 boxes are any good (also KFC in general is overrated)

White chocolate - how do people eat this crap?

Four and twenty pies - I'm all for a pie at the footy but these are just feral

Oporto - massively overhyped, Nando's far far superior

Carlton draught - I'm pretty much a beer only drinker when on the gas but Draught is just a putrid drop, if VB is on tap il choose that every day of the week, only good thing about it is the trivia on the stubbies

Well i can't speak for all but i can't eat normal chocolate so white choc is all i've got.

Disagree on that, Nando's is WAY over-rated, half the time they don't even cook the shit properly. Only good thing about nandos is peri peri salt. But I do enjoy the Otroppo

I like san pellegrino.

I don't get dimmies either. They are rank, they smell like a damp sock and they taste terrible.

Yeah never been a fan of bagels and you can add pretzels to that as well, especially the hard salted ones.

Chiko Rolls.

I don't get the love for these.

Reckon it's gotta lot to do with the advertising campaign as opposed to the swill they pack into 'em

Hmmm, may grab me a chiko roll
