Overtaking rules

Just got back home and saw a potential incident were there was a slow moving oversized vehicle, there were about 12 cars in the pack, and this was a single lane road. the second guy pulled out to overtake, and a guy from 7 cars back dangerously attempted to overtake a number of vehicles, forcing the oncoming car to slow down.

Question is, had the second guy collided with guy from way back, who is at fault. I understand different states may have different rules. If I was the second guy, I would make the claim, that the guy from way back was attempting a dangerous maneuver, given the distance to oncoming traffic.

not sure if it's explicitly written in the road rules, but i'd assume that it depends on who pulled out to overtake first because they would have right of way.

this is assuming that no other rules are being broken. if the guy from way back was speeding then he would be in the wrong.

My two pet hates with overtaking is campaigners that drive slow in the right outside lane and campaigners that drive like Peter Brock in the left inside lane.

WA drivers are full of morons, the WA govt are apparently going to start an advertising campaign to teach WA drivers how to merge to ease traffic.

As one of the few WA drivers that knows how to merge and read traffic I'm close to road raging every time I'm behind the wheel.

The new markings on the freeway on-ramp lanes have made a huge difference I reckon.

In San Diego they had little traffic lights on the freeway on ramps so they didn't get too many cars flooding on to the freeway at once.

It was a good idea and helped traffic flow much more smoothly but drivers there also know how to merge and hit the gas when they hit the freeway.

You get idiots here on the freeway that still think there is a 60 or 70 speed limit, try pressing the accelerator pedal you nimrods.

In America the freeways are like Fury Road, everyone just floors it there and traffic runs more smoothly.

In Australia you have too many Driving Miss Daisy types that shit themselves on the freeway driving 60kph and can't merge for shit.
