I lost faith in Oxley in the latter part of last year due to what appeared to be his "fragility" when the heat was on. He was slowly winning back my confidence until an incident in the third term reminded me why I lost faith the first time. St Kilda were going deep into their forward line, Oxely drifted across in front of his opponent and was in the perfect position to take a comfortable mark--the head was ducked in anticipation of contact-the pill spilled and the Saints goaled. From that point on the Saints ran all over us.

I don't expect every player to play like Glenn Archer but is it asking too much for a player to keep his eyes on the pill when at worst he might cop some incidental contact to the back of his head? Don't think teammates don't notice. It is so deflating and demoralizing and I have no confidence in his ability to stand up the next time some real heat is applied. It is all the more disappointing because he did some good things today.

I guess this might be a cynical view, but would be get a game in a top 4 team? I wouldn't think so.

FFS. And I specifically recall Oxley running with the flight of the ball. He dropped the mark but kept his eyes on the footy and could have been cleaned up for his efforts. Guts.

Alright, maybe the Ox isn't Archer...but he was one of the few players who did his job. Will any player be spared the sacrificial alter?

One of the few players who were ok. So he is soft, big deal. At least he can hit a target

I think being "soft" in the contest is a big deal. It is the weak link in a chain and you don't go far when players are not willing to cop a bruise for their teammates. The skill errors of others are frustrating and costly but the one thing every player can do is take his medicine when his turn comes.

Goldsack dropping an easy mark 60m out, rebounded for a goal. Goldy was ok overall but that killed us.
