Someone had to thread about him. How good is he, and how important do you see him in the EFC future. Is there the possibility he is just a flash in the pan?

Very good long term prospect and Sheeds has known this longer than anyone. MAY even captain the dons one day.

At this stage he is a bit to Shy To Captain so its hard to say how he will develop personally, But Geez he seems to have an awesome football brain

and thats exactly why he might captain the dons one day.
I hope so, Imagine how Proud Sheeds would be of him. As you say, no-one knew how good he was( probably not even himself) except sheeds

And i think that says alot about our head coach. Why get rid off him. If anything that would probably be detrimental to the development of our indigenous players...

I remember reading in an article how he surprised people at the club when he got up on stage in front of an audience and held the floor really well. shows he can talk in front of a group confidently. He also seems so composed for a player who is so young. both good character traits of a future captain I reckon.

Gonna be great watching him develope!

We drafted him to the club as a ruckman but has excelled in Defence! Paddy reminds me of Gavin Wanganeen but odviously alot taller! Wangas came to Essendon as a half forward flanker/Midfielder but played his career in the back pocket and won a brownlow playing there. Could Paddy do it too???

A bit early for talk of captaincy and brownlows but theres no doubting the guys ability. Extremely mobile and versatile for a bloke his size, probably the best vertical leap in the league. Alot of exciting times ahead with this one.

Paddy may well dominate the competition in any one of a number of positions. It will be a good ride while it lasts (until 2019 ?)

Good stuff on coach of the year award. I moved to Maroochydore almost a year a go. Lovin it up here and surprised with the amout of Aussie rules. Teh passion is spreading. Still had to get a taste of live footy though and with no essendon game up here this year my girlfriend and I travelled to Melbourne for the Dream Time at the G game a couple of weeks ago.

I reckon. I remember watching Anfernee Hardaway, before injuries, and was amazed at how when he was in the play everything seemed to go into slow motion. and I reckon it is the same with Paddy. He has so much composure and seems to just glide into pack contests, mark with ease, and then keep running. I've been saying next goodes for a year now. who knows

He is very exciting to watch. Has loads of potential. Stepped right up this year. Beat O' Loughlin hands down on the weekend. Is one of the fastest tall players i have seen, which he would have over goodes and his leap.
Very Pleased with sheedy about this one, i was wondering why sheeds said he would have picked him at number 1 last year. But he got him with pick 7, and he has surpassed any other KPP from that draft. Ryder will be able to play any position - Ruck, FB, CHB, CHF, FF. Could be the best aboriginal player.

I know this thread is about Ryder but just imagine how good Gumbleton will be 2nd pick from the Super draft, if he is anything like Ryder i will be very impressed.

Not bad CHF/CHB combo in a few years for sure... I think while both will be awesome players they will be different..
